Jho for Gerald Wallace!

Post#1 » by GermanFan120 » Thu Oct 2, 2008 2:10 pm

Bobcats wants to get rid of Gerald, i think we should take advantage from it!

Will you do it if Bobcats like this trade?

Howard isnt worth Wallace anymore... Bobcats would laugh in our face. As much as MJ likes Howard, hes too smart to surround his young team with a ego like Howards.

If they want to get rid of him, maybe he could be had for less.

I think JHo is worth more, although I like Wallace, and he would be a good fit.

Although I love Wallace because he is a stat whore the Mavs don't get to far ahead to make that much of a difference.

Also, there was an article on ESPN.com on how Larry Brown is loving Wallace right now in Charlotte, and when Larry Brown loves a player, which doesn't happen often, he won't trade him

I think now is a terrible time to trade Howard. I think Josh will behave for the most part this season and if Cuban wants to move him it would be best to do it closer to the trade deadline.

It would have to be the perfect storm for this to happen but I'd love for the Raptors to implode and start the Chris Bosh is to soft talk again. Josh Howard & Jet to bring Chris Bosh back to Dallas is my dream scenario.

only way you get Bosh here is in a S&T if he opts out before 2010/2011 and gives up $17m
and convinces TOR he will sign elsewhere for less unless they S&T him to DAL

and then if TOR calls it a bluff DAL gets nothing and Bosh has to resign with TOR or take less from a non-DAL team

this year there is no way TOR trades Bosh for Stack+Howard
by the time it comes to S&T Bosh potentially, Stack won'tbe under contract with DAL (prolly)
Bosh would be opting out of about 17m
Howard would have a TO for about 11.5m

if TOR is in free fall and looking to rebuild and/or sign a big FA who is not Bosh then some sort of deal that included Damp to TOR with his 13m unguaranteed would be more attractive to them I would think.
That way they could cut Damp immediately and maybe have cap room to go sign someone.

BUT it's not gonna happen.

I don't think Damp can be traded summer 2010 unles we decide to guarantee his salary (assuming we have the option). It's either a) Damp need a set 2010 salary to be traded like when teams have to pick up a team option in order to trade them or b) Damp's salary is completely void making him a FA. And that depends on the wording in his contract. But you can't trade him based off of "potential, but not guaranteed" salary.

So anotherwards, the latest we can trade Dampier without him getting a big payday for 2010-11 season is the Feb trade deadline in 2010.

so you cannot trade unguaranteed contracts?
that seems odd, as they would be true pay-for-play deals.
it's not like the agreement is void if he is on the roster, only if he is waived

Maybe Fgump can shed some light further, but I know for a fact that you cannot trade a player with an ETO, TO or PO without picking up the option first. Kinda like Eddie Jones...until he picked up his option, we could not trade him btwn last years trade deadline and the time he choose to keep his final year.

Unguaranteed contracts, I would assume, to be the same. In this case, Dampier, if he is not traded by trade deadline in Feb 2010, he is either with us with a highly paid guaranteed deal (which the team chooses to pay) or a FA. Only after we choose to guarantee his last year can we trade him.
