So what are the odds he makes the team?

25%?

10%?

1%?

Maybe 5%. The addition of Williams could kill what little chance he had.

Here are the players I think will be making the Mavs roster for the 08-09 season:

Legeng:
Bold= they are IN
Bold + Italic= probably IN
Italic= most probably OUT

1)J. Kidd

2)A. Wright

3)J. Howard

4)D. Nowitzki

5)E. Dampier

6)J. Barea

7)J. Terry

8)D. Diop

9)B. Bass

10)J. Stackhouse (at this point he has to be included in the 15 men roster, though he will probably be traded)

11)G. Green (based on his performances during the pre-season, the guy deserves a spot)

12)D. George

13)J. Singleton

14)S. Williams (if the trade really goes down)

15)R. Terry (has about a 35% chance of making the opening night roster. If he doesn't there is a good probability that he will be joining the team somewhere further along the road, as I really expect Stackhouse to be traded either NOW or midway through the season)

16)J. Smith (good shooter, but undersized for a SG, hasn't shown great PG skills so my guess is he's out)

17)C. Rhodes (good rebounder but with Damp, Gana, and Bass, and now possibly Shawne Williams I don't think the Mavs need him)

18)C. Gadson (considering his playing time in the preseason, I doubt he makes it)

19)K. McLeod (non guaranteed contract, my guess is he won't be getting that contract)

GOOD LUCK MAVS!!!

Im going to say 33%. If Eddie Jones actually does get bought out then I think Reyshawn will make the team, but who knows, like Rand10 said, the Williams deal sure didnt help his chances at all

Whoops, didn't realize EJ was gone in the deal at first. I definitely have to bump it up from 5% then.

First off, Im no Stack fan (at least lately). But he is definitely making the team over Singleton. Not sure why you put him so far down the line. Also, the Williams trade means he will make the squad, and rightfully so (unless he gets arrested for smoking pot tonight).

Roster:
Kidd, Wright, Josh, Dirk, Diop
JET, Stack, George, Bass, Damp
JJB, Green, Shawne, R. Terry, Singleton

Hopefully, we can trade Stack in a similar deal to get younger and more athletic (maybe with a pick). Still need a third Center.

What are the odds of trading Damp? Please get that guy outta here!

You need not worry too much for Rayshawn. Rick tries him at 5 during the summer league. It works. Carlisie seems to like him as undersized 5. The trade would primarily affect Eddie Jones, Jerry Stackhouse, Keith McLeod, and James Singleton's status.

Rayshawn Terry response well to the challenges thus far.

I expect something like Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse, Eddie Jones, etc for a PG and a C. Maybe the Shawne Williams deal involve Tinsley as well.

Dallas in: Shawne Williams, Jarrett Jack, Jamaal Tinsley, Rasho Nesterovic
Dallas out: Eddie Jones, Jerry Stackhouse, Jason Terry, right to Shan Foster and Rayshawn Terry

Dallas roster:
C - Diop / Damp / Rasho
PF - Dirk / Bass / Singleton
SF - JoHo / Williams / DG
SG - Wright / Green / Jack
PG - Kidd / Tinsley / JJB

Jerry Stackhoue to us this year should be like Eddie Jones was last year. Keep him for a possible salary filler in a trade. I would like to see R. Terry make the team, but I don't see it happening with Deveon George and the other unproven swingmen already on the team (Williams, Green, Wright).

We are not playing in the midgit NBA. The smallest center we should have out there is the 6'9" beast, not a 6'8" swingman!!!!!

Hell, I don't even want to see him at PF. And this trade most definatley affects Terry's position on this team.

Rayshawn Terry deserves a spot over Singleton, McLeod, Smith, Gadson, Rhodes.
I think we'd still add him on with Singleton gone. We'll sign a center with the 15th spot.

C - Diop / Damp / ??
PF - Dirk / Bass / RAT
SF - JoHo / DG / Williams
SG - Wright / Stack / Green
PG - Kidd / JET / JJB

Can we get Olajuwon as our big man coach? I want more maturation to Diop on rebounding and scoring. Many of his problem rest on basketball knowledge and lacking experience.

We can't keep Rayshawn another year overseas now. He's at a hit-or-miss status. If we waive him, he can go anywhere.

He will make the team if we don't sign a good pick up that gets cut from some other team. The trading may not be all over Stack is not in our long term plans and they are shopping him to see what they can get hopefully some team takes the salary relief issue seriously enough to get a deal done with a decent big or backup PG with potential to address those holes. It probably won't happen till the TDL meaning we need to sign RAT so that we have a stable of young wings with potential to package in any deal we do make.
