Solution One - Kidd defend 2, Wright defend 1.
Do you feel Antoine Wright can stay with, says, Tony Parker and Chris Paul? Then we can put Kidd on a shooting guard. Jason seems to guard T-Mac quite well last night. How do you feel about the prospect?
Solution Two - Wright to deny the ball from opponent 2.
Is Antoine too skinny to defend the likes of Kobe, Artest, J-Rich, and so on? Do you think he can get the defensive assignment done with the big guards? I think he need to make use of his athleticism to prevent the guard to getting the ball down low like Josh Howard did in his rookie season. He can't afford waiting the opponents to receive the ball and kill him.
Solution Three - Use a big guard in the starting lineup.
Is size a determinating factor on defense? If so, we need a big guard in the controversial SG spot. Maybe we need DG more than we think in such situation. Or the kids (Green, Wright, Williams) should bulk up to hit the rotation.
Solution Four - Don't bother about it. Just put the best offense on the floor.
Maybe we can use Bass at 3, JET or Green at 2 and so on. Use the best scoring punch to fill the hole. If you feel like the solution is not going to work anyway, get the opponents into trouble to neutralize the effect.
Solution Five - It's up to you to design.
Which one would be the best equation to tackle the problem? Discuss.

Re: Solution to SG defensive black hole
I want to see more of Wright to make a judgment. He looked like he had first game jitters, or that just may be who he is as a player.
Fact is though, he is not a quality SG starter. But unfortunately for the Mavs, there really isn't a better option. I would do a rotation of Wright (in limited minutes)/Devean (yes he sucks but at least at times his D is decent)/Green/Stack.
I liked Kidd's defense too last night. I don't know though, it may be too much to ask him to run the point, score more AND guard the opposing team's best player usually. I think the offense really bogs when he's out and he needs fresh legs.

Re: Solution to SG defensive black hole
IMO, we need to get players (Wright, Green, George, Williams) substantial minutes at the swing and see which pans out. Splitting enough minutes just for them be be cold, get warmed up and then benched is a terrible idea IMO. Forget Stack. I'd give Wright 2 more weeks and if he does not improve, then switch to Green. Give him 2 weeks and then George. Rotate as instructed until one clicks.

I think we should move JET back into the starting rotation instead of Wright

Even though george can't shoot he can play really good man on man defense.

Green has shown plenty to warrant substantial minutes I think. Along with the recent play to start the season of Wright/Stack and I dont see why he doesnt get at least 20 a game & starting.

I'm all for this, I think JET starting would keep him hot and then sub in Green/Wright depending on matchups that RC likes. Keep Stack on the bench as a cheerleader.

I agree, he's got freakish athleticism and can shoot the three. I'd love to see him get minutes because he's still young and will only get better with experience. He's got all the tools to be successful in this league offensively and defensively.
