Marquis+Rasho+Tinsley for Stack+Damp?

Post#1 » by GermanFan120 » Thu Nov 6, 2008 1:36 am

good:

1) we have a good PG behind Kidd so we can kick Barea out
2) clear some salary cap
3) no more Stack and stupid Damp contract

bad:

first round exit again

Your #2 reason is invalid. We do not save nearly enough money to have any affect on signing anyone in 2009 and the addition of Tinsley's extra year, eliminates any chance we would have had in 2010.

As constructed, I would not do it (I like Dampier over Rasho too). Add a Terry - Dunleavy swap and then I'd do it, otherwise, I'd rather have Terry as the backup PG and keep our 2010 cap space.

i agree with you except the Dunleavy part, can we be much softer once we get him? :o

and Dunleavy's contract disgusts me as much as Damp's...

i am just desperate getting Stack and Damp out of Dallas..

Why on Damp?

He expires at the right time...summer 2010. Stack gets 7 mil this year and only 2 if waived next year. Why add Tinsley's 3 year 20 +/- mil contract that expires 2011? That's like trading the flu for lung cancer.

Dunleavy's contract is 1 year less than Terry and basically is a taller, better rebounding Terry. Though, I must admit, Terry's cheerleadding on the bench gets me going sometimes. Dunleavy cheerleading would not be quite the same. :D

This trade doesnt mean another first round exit... I think it actually helps us more. We need a backup PG (Tinsley), and Marquis is way better than Stackhouse. It leaves a hole at center, but I think its worth it.

This trade makes us worse and screws us more in the future. Marquis I take over Stack but the rest of the deal is pointless.

I think this deal is fine. Stack is useless and if he was gone Carlisle would not feel obligated to play him. Damp may hurt a bit but Rasho could at least be serviceable in small minutes. I love Marquis now that he is healthy again so that is a plus at SG. The real key to the deal is Tinsley who is still a very good PG in this league. Then we would have a real PG to replace Kidd with. No longer trying to force Terry to play PG or using mascot JJ Barea as the backup.

Sorry but i have seen the hoopshype salaries table and Damp's contract is guaranteed in 2010 ($13075000). I have heard for a long time that last year's wont be guaranteed, but i don't seen in any official site. Can anybody put a official version of Damp's contract and his last year?
Thanks

That's your problem right there.

I'm sorry, but when hoopshype even has ONE team's salary correct, then I will start giving people who use that site any credit. Till then, you may want to use the much, much, more accurate shamsports.com.

2008-09 $11,553,000
2009-10 $12,115,500
2010-11 $13,078,000

Erick Dampier: Signed and traded to Dallas with a 7 year, $73 million contract in August 2004. Last season is fully unguaranteed, which becomes full guaranteed if 1) Dampier is selected to play in any three NBA All-Star Games out of the 2004-2005 through the 2009-2010 seasons, or 2) Dampier plays at least 2,100 minutes in the 70 regular season games in the 2009-2010 season in which he plays the most minutes (and if he plays in less than 70 regular season games in the 2009-2010 season, then he must play at least 2,100 minutes for the entire regular season). So that's interesting.
