Better Than Trading Dirk. Try This.

Going to Bobcats: Brandon Bass, DeSagana Diop, Jerry Stackhouse & Josh Howard
Going to Dallas: Alexis Ajinca,Gerald Wallace & Jason Richardson

Not only does this trade work (after Dec 15th trade restrictions) but it solves both teams needs. First, they will get an ALL Star Sm Forward who is not yet at his prime (basically a swap of Howard for Wallace-though I believe Howard to be better). Then a young PF in Bass who can fit nicely by Okafor and is better than anything else they have at PF. Also, they can free cap space by releasing Stackhouse and dropping his contract from next years books. Then Diop to help sure up the center position. I am not saying they become a winning team with this but they gain two good players that are young, some cap space and a nice back up center and they don't really lose anything because they are trying to trade Wallace and Richardson won't be around much longer. Starters:

Dallas will become much better and plug some holes. Finally, they will have a starting SG and a SM Forward who doesn't just shoot step back jumpers and with Alexis you know how Nelson likes the euros. The Starters: Kidd, Richardson, Wallace, Dirk & Damp w/Terry, and other misc 6'7 guys. We will be small off the bench but we will be fast.

I doubt the Bobcats want Diop's contract if they are looking to clear Wallace's

Because of contract on cucussion history, I would never do Howard for Wallace straight up; the cats would have to sweeten the pot heavily. If they want Bass to, then yeah, I would be expecctin J-Rich to be that sweetner. Stack only to match salary and give them a 2 year shorter contract.

Still don't know if the cats would do it, but that's what I would require.

Id do it, but Dallas would have nothing off the bench for bigmen. It would be pathetic.

I agree with you PG01.

The trade I think would be better for both teams than the OP is:

Howard + Bass + Stack
for
Wallace + Richardson

We keep C depth and the Cats save the money they are looking for.
I would heavily recruit McDyess

Dampier / Diop
Dirk / McDyess
Wallace / George
Richardson / Green / Wright
Kidd / Terry / Barea

Once again, I don't know if the cats do that, but I think it's closer than the OP.

No way Charlotte would do thise... But then again, Michael Jordan is in charge over there so it wouldnt hurt to propose it.. I dont think he is dumb enough to make the same mistake twice with Jerry Stackhouse though

Here is mavs lineup with the first trade, which would have to facilitate a second trade
Damp/Ajinca
Dirk/George/Singleton
Wallace/Green
richardson/Terry/Wright
Kidd/Terry/Barea

That is a pitiful 4 and 5 reserves. Camby would fit so wonderfully in that position.

Agree the big reserves would be pitiful but the upgrade at sg is much greater than the downgrade at the backup c positions. I think it would be easier to fill the backup center role (McDyess???) than the starting sg spot.

How about adding the Clips to the deal with Kaman coming to Dallas and J-Rich going to the Clips?

Kaman/Damp
Dirk/Singleton/Williams
Wallace/George
Green/Wright
Kidd/Terry

Better chemistry imo.

At this point, I don't think the cats have any interest in moving J Rich unless it's an absolute no brainer. Bass and Stackhouse isn't so attractive they are willing to give up Richardson for it.

There's no way the Clippers would move Kamen for Richardson. And ^that guy is right, I dont think Richardson is someone the Bobcats want to trade. Its mainly Wallace, then probably Felton, maybe Okafor after that.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
