Brandon Bass?

Just curious, I didn't see him play TOO much last year, but when i did, Bass looked to be a monster. Somehow he seems to have dropped off this year? Is he playing worse or just having some bad luck so far or what?

Well, last year he was shooting over 50% on his jumpers. That is a tremendously hard stat to maintain. Also last year, Dirk was playing a lot at center so that we could get our best lineup out there, but this year, Bass' minutes have pretty much been 48-Dirk.

We'll see what happens. I don't expect him to be too much better than last year, but I am hoping he doesn't try to force things as much and play a more controlled offense.

Hm, gotcha, thanks.

Side note: I can't decide whose signature quote is more pathetic. Yours probably gets the nod, but it's close.

Bass sucked last year too... Hes a good rebounder, but hes useless after that- especially when Carlisle puts him on guys like Yao to defend. Same story since last year.

Bass and Diop did pretty good on Yao last year. I remeber wondering wtf was Avery doing, but it worked so well, Avery did it in every game...though he was not quite as sucessful the other times.

And Bass does NOT suck!

Bass isn't consistant enough to be a starter or get major minutes, but he'll be fine. He had trouble against LA because now teams know how to guard him. They know he likes the baseline drive or the short ranger (15') shot. Take those away, and he's useless.

He doesnt suck, but sure is sucking right now. Hes not looking for his own shot, he isnt getting the ball were he likes to drive or shoot. Part of that is Dirk getting heavy minutes (although dirk shouldnt right now) and Bass having to play with Terry at PG. Terry isnt a horrible PG, but it also seems Rick isnt running many plays geared toward Bass getting touches.

Bass is a huge part of our bench, get him going Rick.

how did he get basically no minutes against the bulls tonight?
our frontcourt is weak, he could have dominated us.
i think the mavs are hiding him since he's gunna be a free agent,
then they'll sign him and give him big minutes next year.
is that possible, i see no other reason why he wouldnt get playing time.

Probably because Damp played so well.

This team can only get contributions from one or two individuals each game.
Bass will get plenty of PT this season when Diop and Damp decide to take vacations during the regular season.
Damp's performance tonight was an abberation. We'll see this for a week or two and then he will return to being a sloth.

I'm not entirely sure that is the truth. In the past Damp has always responded well when the team includes him on the offensive side. Kidd looks to be doing this continuously and I think that is the reason for his response. The team with Harris was not built to pass well to the big man who has stone hands.
