Stephon Marbury?

Post#1 » by DIRKtheGREAT » Tue Nov 18, 2008 2:48 am

The more and more i keep reading these articles of Marbury probally being bought out the more Cuban is in the articles... I think its obvious Cuban wants Marbury here in Dalllas, i think if Marbury knows his place on this team, realizes he will HAVE to come off the bench and understands this is Dirks team and listens to Kidds advice while keeping his cool THEN he will be perfect for us. I know this is alot of stuff to work out but if he's a desperate to win a championship then he won't have a problem. Now that bench would be pretty solid.

Kidd/Marbury/Barea
Green/Terry/Wright
Howard/Stack/George
Dirk/Bass/Williams
Damp/Diop

Anyone Agree??

I think there's never been a question about Marbury's talents. It's always a question of where his head is. IF, and that's a HUGE if, his head is straight on, no question he'll help this team. If Marbury can live with a role of backing up Kidd (or even playing alongside Kidd), then he makes this team instantly better.

- He'll be a good backup to Kidd
- He provides scoring
- He is a legit finisher in the 4th quarter

But again, those are all huge question marks.

I mean, the guy proclaimed himself the best PG in the game during Kidd and Nash's heyday (when they were clearly 1a and 1b and #3 was a distant third, which by the way, wasn't Starbury either lol).

This is clear desperation by Cuban and the Mavs FO if he is waived and signs with Dallas. Not only is there potential chemistry issues with this guy but how long will it take for him to get back to a resonable level? Cuban needs to quit trying to make this team something that it is not a team that can win a title. This team at best is an 8 seed with or without Marbury.

Because trading Terry allows us flexability in 2010 (only Diop would have guaranteed salary) while Marbs can take his role now. Also, I can't see Marbs and Terry being happy on the same team where Kidd gets 35+ minutes; we may see a side of Terry we never seen before..or a side of Marbury that we have seen before.

Getting Marbury allows you to not have to play Kidd 35+ mins a game IF Marbury is playing decently. We will have to rest Kidd more for later in the year but of course at the moment we can't because once he leaves the floor this team can't do a damn thing.

I think Marbury will come in and not be a bitch. I'm sure he is humiliated and humbled by what is going on in New York. Maybe he'll come in and want to be the good guy and consumate team player in order to make run for a contract from someone next year. Maybe he'll come in the way Stack did and be a professional and accept a lesser role than what he was used to.

The guy is 31 and has not played this year and only played 24 games last year so he'll have some legs under him if he is healthy. Lets do it! He'll at least at a little attitude to the team.

Ken Berger, Newsday:

"About an hour before tip-off, an Internet billionaire strode across the Madison Square Garden court to shake hands with a basketball millionaire. It could be the first gesture in a marriage of convenience, an example of what happens when two dysfunctional relationships become one. 'I'm a Stephon Marbury fan,' Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said, placing himself in a realm in which he's quite comfortable — the fringe — but certainly not alone. Cuban and Marbury had a brief handshake and chest bump, and Marbury pitter-pattered his fingers to let Cuban know he'll be in touch. Who knows? It could happen sooner than we think. Cuban hasn't spoken with the Knicks about Marbury, but give it time. We're talking about the ultimate risk-taker here, a guy who signed Dennis Rodman a month after buying the Mavs."

Good Source f.r.t.d

Get it done Cuban! The worst thing that can happen? Marbury can come in start crying and get suspended, again! The best thing that can happen? When our starters go out our bench comes in pours it on and we become real deep, once again.

If marbs does work out and we want to keep him next year, trading for him gives us bird rights. Signing him as a FA don't leaving us choosing btwn him, Green or some other FA. I still would trade for him 1st (Terry has to be involved) and only sign him as a FA if he gets bought out.

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... house_out/

"Cuban: ''I Won't Buy Stackhouse Out"

and Walsh won't buy out Marbury.

I'm telling you that I feel more and more confident in a Marbury + min player (Roberson) for Terry + Stack + pick one (George, Wright, Barea) trade. Probably Barea since we will be taking Roberson.

The only way to feel more confident now is to see a wire tap saying Rose was bought out, but I don't see that happening til early December.

All true. Cuban is pretty desperate if he signs Marbury. The team doesn't need a shoot first guard who would be a black hole offensively. It would be the start of the teams demise.

So much for my Terry + Stack + Barea for Marbury + Roberson deal.

Looks like they moved their two movable 3+ year deals (both of which I think they improved their team now and the future). We'll see if Walsh can work miricles on Jeffries and Curry.
