Trade with GSW?

Post#1 » by radtech » Sun Nov 30, 2008 10:40 pm

Stephen Jackson and Marcus Williams or Marco Belinelli for Jerry Stackhouse and Gerald Green. The Warriors alos have to include a future number one pick for Dallas for taking Jackson because of his longer contract. Jackson will provide the scorer off the bench Stackhouse was supposed to be. He gives a solid effort defesively as well. You have a choice of Williams, a back-up point or Belinelli, a back-up shooting guard. Williams to back up Kdd or Belinelli to add long range shooting. Why for GSW, another trip to the lottery.

Outgoing Players

GSW don't touch that. And I'm not sure Dallas should either with a 30yo Jackson shooting 40 from the field and with guaranteed money til he is 36 (2013).

Now Bass + filler (Barea, Williams, Wright) for Azubuike is a different story.

As usual the other team gives us the value and we give them garbage.

I think you will find a lot (more than normal) of this salary dumping btwn now an 2010. The problem is, the Warriors aren't dumping and the Mav's aren't taking. This would be good deal if we had Jackson and they had Stackhouse. Though, I still am not a fan of 32+yo swing players on $10+ mil/year contracts.

I say no thanks to that trade. Any trade adding a long term contract I would pass on unless it adds a top ten player to the Mavs.

Golden State would laugh their ass off when Donnie Nelson calls them with that offer... Hell, they can throw in Maggette and Beidrins while theyre at it

I'd turn down Maggette also.

I do agree with you. I don't want Jackson as long as we have Josh Howard (which I prefer) and Jason Terry's contract. Theres no reason for us to pursue Jackson or Maggette at this point. Like you, I don't like the idea of adding those types of contracts due to the age of the player, and we need to learn from our past mistakes.

Golden State are starting to look like the next New York Knicks by adding Maggette and Jamal Crawford to the already swing player. When I view the Golden State roster I see longterm investments that probably will never bring any success to the organization.

bass and filler for azubuike is still something I like. they are stacked at guards and could need a player like bass.

As I have stated repeatedly I would jump at this trade. I love Bass but we have others who could take those minutes. To me we still have a hole at the starting SG position and I think Azubuike could fill that hole nicely. I know Wright has been playing well there but I think Buike is a better option.

I doubt the Warriors have changed their minds on Jackson only weeks after extending his contract.
