Okay, I'm not implying that stats tell the whole truth, especially with Terry getting more PPG while Howard is out, but if we can get our top 3 offensive players on the same page when Howard comes back, what was precieved to be our biggest weakness coming into the season would be a non-factor. I'm starting to be real happy that they did not trade Howard for the likes of Carter, Redd, etc.

I wish stats like those would give us more wins.

I know those stats dont show it, but im impressed with how Kidd is playing this season too. I know Harris is having impressive numbers in NJ, but nobody sees what Kidd produces on the court unless they watch the Mavs this season

Yeah, Kidd and Damp do all those things that don't get you noticed. Kidd gets 7.4 RPG as a PG and Dmap gets 7.2 RPG and 1.2 BLG in less than 22 minutes. Add in Kidd's 8.6 APG and keeping the defenders honest with the 3 (10.2 PPG) along with Damp's man defense and screens and you'll see a balanced team. Personally, I'd rather have a high scorer at the 1 or the 5, but we will have to see how this pans out.

Nice observation JES. It's ashame we only have a 8-8 record to show for it, but it's still early, and it has plenty of room for improvement with all the upcoming home games.
I'd still like to see Dirk attempt more 3's. He's almost at a career low with 2.6 attempts per game. Josh Howard on the other hand is having a very solid year and the main complaint I have about him is his FT% because it's dramatically decreased from recent years. Not really making a big deal about this considering he's only played nine games this year. On a positive note, I would love to see Josh continue 6 attempts per a game at the line, and that's another career high.

nice, but those stats dont tell the whole truth. jet went off to 20+ point games ever since howard got injured. so I guess we'll have to wait and see how these three (or two, cause we know dirk will get his) respond once howard plays again.
still, you gotta like it. and after the slow start the mavs came back strong, after all we are 6-1 after the abysmal start.

I agree that the team has looked pretty good and agree with JES usually on everything except for the idea that a Howard for Carter deal would be bad for us. Carter is better then Howard at everything except defense. Carter is a million times better at passing and is a better outside shot. Howard probably has a little better slashing game but most the time they both shoot jumpers. Kidd played well with Carter and vice versa, while Howard many times looks like a one man show when he gets it and is invisible in the 4th quarter. Carter would be an upgrade over Howard and would vault Dallas into an actual contender. He finds open men, and Kidd, Terry, and George have been pretty sharp from downtown.

Stein's Power rankings, once again, the one based off opinion, have Dallas moving up from #15 to #14.
Hollinger's power rankings which is updated daily based off stats has had Dallas inching up from late teens to, now, #5.
Real GM's Power Ranking, which is based of a set of stats has well as Dallas at #7..up from #17 on on November 17th.
I'm telling you, this league is never based of facts, it's based of percetion...even down to the whistles.
Ah wells. I guess that suits us for being tied with New York at # 16 where it counts...the standings.
What a moron! When they're not trying to avoid Devin Harris' box scores from Jersey, Mavs sympathizers are giving thanks that they still have Jason Terry, who's been the league's best sixth man so far ... as well as the Mavs' best player.

Pretty crappy response compared to his lovely comments to the other teams. The Mavericks have abandoned the Princeton offense and are triggering many of their halfcourt sets out of the pick and roll.
