JO+Moon+draft for JHo+Stack+Diop?

Post#1 » by GermanFan120 » Thu Dec 18, 2008 7:26 pm

I saw this posted by Raptors fan on their board. I personally like it!

Reasons to do this trade:
1) JO + Damp - that seems like a better playoff team. JO provides post play that we don't have in years and Damp can make our 2nd unit defense better. I am tired of seeing Bass playing center.

2) Jho's scoring will be missed, but we still have Terry who has shown us he should be our 2nd scoring leader. Moon is athletic, young and better shot blocker. He will develop.

3) Diop and Stack are not playing anyways, what do we worry about losing too much in this trade?

4) Salary cap will be better next year, if JO is gone, we have cash in our hand this summer

Our lineup will look like:

JO/Damp/Dirk
Dirk/Bass/Singlton
Moon/Shawne/George
Wright/Terry(six man)/Green
Kidd/Barea/Terry

What do u guys think?

Ehh...I just wouldn't feel comfortable with JO and his knee. Diop is a decent back-up for Damp it's just Rick plays Bass before him at C.

Moon is the same age as Howard. Athletic and young cancel out with J-Ho. Honestly everything else I see in Moon is yeah a shot blocker and flashy dunks; we got flashy dunks in Gerald Green so yeah.

I wish there was a way we could build a package with out giving up our core 4 in order to bring in a player that is star level (or atleast starter level).

Considering Diop's contract and the lack of offense he can do, i don't like his role on the team as much as before.

People sometimes blame on Dirk's shot selection, thats becoz our opponent knows our center cannot score, so they just put two guys on Dirk.

I saw the Raptors post that German Fan was talking about and intially when I saw the J-Ho, Diop, Stack deal I thought yeah I'm all for that. But looking at the stats I got to say as much as I would like to get Howard out of here I want it to be what he's worth or at least close to it and I dont think an aging big man with bad knees, and a Gerald Green starter kit is going to get the job done. I know JO has a big expiring contract for the next year but I think there has to be a better fit out there. I still like JO but think Howard's worth more.

I just like it because we get Toronto's pick. O'Neal would be nice to see at center, plus we keep athleticism at the 3 spot.

I'm not interested in O'Neal at all. He hasn't been a post player for quite a while now. Add in his injury problems and massive contract, and it's just not worth it. I would consider trading Howard for Kaman, but not JO.

And as jtg mentioned, Moon is just as old as Howard. He won't get any better. The pick doesn't do much for me either as long as we're in win-now mode.

Change Stack to George and I would do it.

Then use Stack + Toronto pick + Bass + Moon for Gerald Wallace

O'neal - Dampier - Dirk
Dirk - O'neal - Williams
Wallace - Williams - Sigleton
Wright - Terry - Green
Kidd - Barea - Terry

Yeah I'm still curious on what we could get for Howard around the league, Jermaine isn't the best we could get for him I know that.

Or even put it all in one trade.

Dallas gets Wallace + O'neal + Moon
Toronto gets Howard + George + Mohammad
Charlotte gets Stack + Diop + Bass + Toronto pick

Dallas lineup
O'neal - Dampier
Nowitzki - Williams
Wallace - Moon - Singleton
Wright - Terry - Green
Kidd - Barea

If we get Toronto's draft pick I would take a chance on this trade.

JO is done. I would not touch him with a 10 foot pole unless it's for an absolute giveaway.

EDIT: I didn't realize he only has one year left. I might do it for the Howard/Diop/Stack package.

In the range of Superstar, Star & Starter, Josh Howard falls somewhere between a star and a starter; I don't know if its right to call him a star yet. Jermaine is a starter now at most. He's not the same Jermaine that most of us know him as. Chris Bosh is the new elite PF in the east that he once was. I think J-Ho can get us more than JO.

If we got their pick with little protection (maybe like top 8 protected this year and top 3 protected in 2010) then I would do it. Diop is a negative in my mind. I think Dallas could easily find a replacemnent for him for half the price. Stack is worthless. So basically for me, its JO/Moon/Pick for JHo and I would do that.

I love JO's contract & I love the combination of JO/Damp at center. I think they would compliment each other great, and JO can even play backup PF (along with Shawne Williams & Singleton) and then we can move Bass for something else. Moon is a pretty good defender I believe, and just a solid role player for to add to this team.
