Trade thoughts......Raps & J-Ho.

Post#1 » by MEDIC » Thu Dec 18, 2008 7:24 pm

Hello Gents (& ladies),

Just wanted to get a feel on some trade scenarios from you peeps (centered around J-Ho/ Raptors).

Here are a few trade scenarios:

1. JO for Howard & Dampier:
Salaries work. Dampiers contract isn't very good for the Raps, but at least they get a C back to replace JO.

2. JO & Moon for Howard & Dampier:
Salaries work. Mavs might want an athletic wing back in return. We get the upgrade at the wing position & you get the upgrade at the C position.

3. JO & Moon for Howard, Diop & Stackhouse:
Salaries work. Stack wants out. Diop is not really earning his salary & Dallas frees up a ton of cap space while not severely affecting the current roster. (I see that the Mavs are still winning without J-Ho)

4. Kapono & Bargs for Howard
Salaries work. Kapono could be very useful in your system & Bargs could develop under Dirk. We get the player that we want. You get a young big & one of the best shooters in the league.

5. Kapono & Bargs for Howard & either George or Wright
Salaries work. Same reasons as above. We may want to have an extra, cheap salary thrown in because our roster is already so thin.

* All of these trades work in the ESPN trade checker.

Thoughts???

I think No.3 has the best chances of all your proposals, but i still wouldnt go for that. Like mentioned in the other thread JO is injuryprone and i wouldnt give up on Josh just for JO alone and some salary bumps.

I think a possible deal would have to be a three-way or even bigger deal, i havent checked numbers but just thinking loud:

JO & Raja Bell for Josh, Diop and Stack is something i would do. I think Raja could be had for less so that could be a possible deal that doesnt cost the Raps too much. (Maybe your pick to Cha?)

This could happen in mid Feb. Till then a lot of things can happen.

PS: Best of luck for the Raps, I thought you guys make the playoffs for sure and still think you make them

1. JO for Howard and Dampier reminds me of the utterly devastating Kidd trade.

2.-3 .These tradescenarios are slightly better, but far from acceptable.

4.-5. First of all Kapono is an excellent shooter, but he's got no athleticism and defense. Same you could say about Bargs, except of the shooting. They both make the mavs just softer as they already are. Therefore, no thanks.

The only player, i am really interested in, is Bosh!

How about a Dampier + Stackhouse for Bosh swap?

Raptor fans should buy the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy!

Don't panic :)

Or even put it all in one trade.

Dallas gets Wallace + O'neal + Moon
Toronto gets Howard + George + Mohammad
Charlotte gets Stack + Diop + Bass + Toronto pick

Dallas lineup
O'neal - Dampier
Nowitzki - Williams
Wallace - Moon - Singleton
Wright - Terry - Green
Kidd - Barea

I would take the Damp+J ho for JO trade if Toronto added 2009 and 2011 first round picks.

No Thanks to all.

If the Mavs are going to move Howard it better be for an upgrade at a position of need. The only player the Raps have is Bosh and the Mavs don't need a PF.

Oneal can't stay on the court due to injuries. There are very few players that Dirk will take to the rim and Bargnani is one of them so what does that say about his defense? Moon won't play here because of some crazy love of George and Kapono I probably could find 5 guys in FA right now that does the same exact thing he does.

I would do #3 with a 2009 pick added with small protection on it. Otherwise, the others have no interest in me. I would definately want to keep Dampier and send Diop out in the process. Diop actually might live up to his contract getting the minutes in Toronto.

JHo for Kaman. But Clippers wouldn't even do that.

Not much in Raptors I'd be interested though...

mavs definitely need a big trade, but those suggestions here certainly are not too appealing
