Who Is The Worst Player On This Team?

Post#1 » by HairyGOATee » Tue Oct 12, 2021 5:45 pm

I'm going to try and speed things up by launching this now. I can only name 10 people at a time, so some players will not be in both polls, while others will.

Moses Brown IMO, close behind Terry.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

It's Dwight Powell for me. He doesn't do much more than WCS does, but he costs nearly 3x as much.

Josh Green might be my pick here too... Terry is a consideration too, but honestly he might not be with the team much longer.

Feel bad with Green on the list. It is rare for an athletic freak to underachieve like that. Consider some similar ex-Mavs like Josh Howard, Marquis Daniels, Gerald Green, Rudy Fernandez...I can't believe Josh Green cannot crash the rotation right away. Green could be among those one of the best athlete. Howard crashes the boards hard; deny the ball in paint; hit pull-up jumper in 18 foot in only 1st quarter to get a starting role. Daniels, similar to Green, do not have much outside shooting to offer; and is not that solid defensively, got the rotation role under Neille. Gerald Green can only dunk before coming to Dallas. But still, a pretty good instant spark off bench. Rudy Fernandez, may be the most similar player with Josh Green, has a semi-starter role before leaving for Europe during lock-out. What's wrong with Green after all?

I can see JJ and Tyson's work play out. I think Kidd and Finley could involve a little more in PG and SG/SF development. I think most important part is on decision making. Green does hustle but not smart enough. That's why Green underachieve. Not enough defensive efficiency, way too many TOs and lacks of diversifying offensive skillsets hurt Green's stock. I also wonder why Green gets blocked a lot despite being much bigger and athletic than Monta Ellis.

To me, it is clearly Terry for now. Green and Nilikina could be the next. Then comes WCS, both Browns, Bullock and Burke. Those players are there just because the Mavs roster is too depth in certain way.

Where's Najera now. I think Najera could serve a role in PF development. The nastiness and professionalism is valuable asset to a team.

I read everywhere that Green is an athletic freak but i never seen a powerful/autority dunk or moves around the basket...neither 1vs0.

Ok he can jump a lot but he seems afraid.

I will vote for Tyrell Terry, not because he's the worst but because he's the least capable of contributing to the first team at the moment. It seems like he really needs to work on improving his strength and mass, in addition continually improving his game. Hope he will use that as motivation, if he ever reads this thread! :P

I still have high hopes for Josh Green, but that's all they are at this point. Outside of a few games last year where he had a crucial defensive play, he has done next to nothing. Hopefully, it's just a matter of him being young & needing to up his basketball IQ to catch up with his athleticism. He needs to become a quick learner tho. He has this season to show the Mavs something before they have to start thinking about his future with the club.

Yeah, Terry is definitely on the fringe of being cut. I would have Burke next on my list, or towards the top. Luka handles the ball so much it makes a player like Burke worth very little, unless God forbid Luka goes down. Even if that happened, Brunson comes in and has a high usage rate too. Plus, Burke was a bubble star. Don't feel like the Mavs should have paid for a few weeks. Seems like they bought high to me. I guess he must be well liked in the organization.

I wanna say someone told me Najera lives around here and does something like work as a real estate agent or something like that. I could be wayyyyyyyyyyy off base, but it's funny you mentioned him because I think I remember hearing that a couple months ago.
