The ACL injury still makes me worry everytime he gets up there.

But he gets by everyone with such ease, cant wait to see him get a test with the better defensive gaurds this season.

We could have done with Labissiere, instead of weird 42 wins playoffs and getting annihilated by West-Enes-Ibaka.

Thanks Carlisle.

What does this even mean? WE didn't have a pick to take Skal with, West hurt us like ten years ago so who cares, Ibaka got crushed by Dirk in the 2011 WCF and Kanter I don't even know where you are going.

So confused by your post. Especially when you end it by blaming Carlisle?

Yep. It's going to take a couple seasons before I can let that go. Dallas has a top rated medical team so DSJ is in good hands, but it's a scary part of the story. Look at what has happened to Chicago since Derrick Rose got hurt.

No, We have. But it was top 7 protected. We should have done with one more young talent, instead of 42 wins and a devastating loss against the Durant-off Thunder.

It's been a long time since you guys have been in a position to draft an elite talent in the lottery though so I'm happy for you. Several teams that picked in the top 10 are going to hate themselves in a few years for passing on him.

Based on radio and message boards over the past week Knicks fans and writers are already hating life.

Not to mention we could have had Kidd for his entire career. Can you imagine Kidd and Tarpley playing together. Stupid Mark Cuban.

Cuban pulled an epic bait and switch with Ntilikina to help push the Knicks into taking him, masterful job by him.

That was pretty epic. I'm not a big Mark Cuban fan at all, but I gotta respect the game he played on that one

I don't like those speculations. The Knicks decide to take Ntilikina. That's their choice. We don't believe Dennis Smith will fall to number 9th pick. That's why we scout Frank heavily. This doesn't take anything away from Dennis. He's the better PG compared with any guard that fall to 9th pick to start with. Maybe Phil Jackson wants a 3-and-D guy and re-sign D Rose. Who knows?

Based on everything that's being said the Mavs did like Ntilikina but were only considering him because they didn't think DSJ would be there at 9. I've read that the Mavs had DSJ as the 2nd best player in the draft. Also even the Knicks viewed DSJ as the better player but Phil Jackson thought Ntilikina would be a better fit for the triangle. Then they fired Phil 5 days later. They may not even stick with the triangle now. That's why Knicks fans are hating life right now. They have a project player that is probably 4 years away from being ready to take over the starting PG spot (if he's not moved to SG) meanwhile DSJ looks like he could be a legit ROY candidate.

Agreed. I didn't watch much of him in college - just some hightlight videos of his insane dunks... After seeing some of these SL games, I was pretty surprised at the type of player he really is. Was kind of expecting a volume-shooting, out of control rim attacker. In reality he is a very patient, team oriented, pass-first guy who is very smart about when to put it into high gear. Hence the smooth look to his game. A lot of the perceived "weaknesses" from the media before the draft are actually turning out to be strentghs.

He easily could have averaged 2-3 more assists per game in SL if guys didn't blow so many shots right at the rim. Those are shots that guys like Dirk, Barnes, and Wes will hit. Plus he's going to get lots of easy lobs to Noel. I would not be surprised at all if Junior averages about 7 assists per game as a rookie.

Wouldn't surprise me if Josh Jackson and John Collins become part of the ROY conversation by mid-season.

Very solid.

Pros:

-He is an absolute force at the rim. Pairing his athleticism and skill around the rim with his already large popularity, he's going to be living at the free throw line his entire career.

-Court vision. He has exceptional court vision.

-3-point shooting. Obviously it's going to be up and down, but he was hitting them at a pretty good clip in preseason.

Cons:

-Defense. He's going to improve, but there will be plenty of times he gets absolutely eaten alive on that end of the floor.

-Shot tendency. Wasn't a game to game problem, but he'll have times where he holds the ball for 15 seconds and just jacks up a 3. Steph Curry can get away with that. Dennis can't. He needs to avoid avoiding attacking the rim and settling for long 3s.

-Free throws. He's pretty hot and cold. The best part of this was when he was fouled on a 3 and sank all 3 FT. But he'll miss both plenty of times. The amount of time he's in the paint and gets to the line, he's going to have to be an 80% FT shooter in a few years. Hoping for 75% this year but would not be surprised if he's around 65-70%.

Overall, be very excited. He was eating Dennis Schroeder alive before he got hurt. Schroeder is one of the most athletic guards in the league and a plus defender. I can't wait to see what DSJ does to the rest of the guards in this league.

Taking away from preseason, my early 2017 stat line prediction for DSJ is this:

16.7 ppg, 5.8 apg, 3.7 rpg, 42& FG, 34% 3pt, 72& FT, 1.4 spg, 0.7 bpg, Rookie of the Year.
