I see some of you still don't understand the concept of how Mavs roster is built. When playoffs arrived, it was clear as a day why Mavs traded for Dinwiddie. Even if some of us didn't like the overall outcome of the trade, it still proved to be a decent move to give Brunson and Doncic some stress relief on the pure playmaking position. And even though Brunson was never a great playmaker, he still was valuable as a 2nd option to Doncic with Spencer backing them up.

But now, Mavs have no playmakers left outside of Doncic and maybe Dinwiddie or a guy who is on a 2way contract Dorsey. The only other person able to do something with the ball on this roster is THJ but we also all know he can never be fully trusted.

Like Bob said, what happens if Luka or Dinwiddie get injured? What happens if even one of them misses 15-20 games? Who is the next best guy to handle playmaking duties? Frank, Green, Pinson?
This is the main reason why Dragic or Schroeder would help a lot. This is also why all top teams have multiple guards or even wings that can create for themselves or others. Mavs have ZERO of that type of players on wing and SG positions.

Not saying they don't need another ball handler. Whatever the roster is to start the season doesnt mean its the one they will finish the season with. Much rather take time to find the right piece over ramming a square peg into a round hole.

The entire league will be really competitive this season, West even more so. I'm not sure Mavs can take much time in order to find someone perfect.

He had solid suitors yet picked the worst team of the 3 and least path to playing time. Maybe he only had 1 of 30 teams interested in him.

Again not sure you understand the team has a defensive mindset and Dragic can't guard a fire hydrant who's injury prone at his age.

Unless Green takes a big step as a ball handler (because is the only one I can see doing it), I think the Mavs have this year a bigger hole at guard than the hole they have last year at center. They have solved one problem and created a still bigger one. The Dragic-gate is going to be a thing if the season doesn´t go in the wright direction. Is not that he is a great player but no one literally in this team is able to run a bit of a offense out of Doncic or Dinwiddie, and those will lost games.
