To be fair, as it stands, Mavs are the #2 team in the NBA right now. "To get better" means to be the NBA champion. So the current challenges can be attributed to the Celtics simply having 4 stars versus Dallas' 2. To be that you probably need to assemble the Golden State Avengers. #2 out of 30 isn't too bad for 0.5 year of the rebuild.
Not as simple... Be the #2 this year could not means be the #2 next year with the same roster...
It's not automatic go to the Finals every year.
Yea that doesnt mean a thing, playoffs are about matchup, Dal could just as easily been out Round 1 2 or 3 depending on who they played. Memphis will be back with a bang next year, OKC will be even better, maybe much better depending on what they do. Minny, Den, NO are not going anywhere. Lakers will always be a player. Kyrie is getting older. This was the year to win, we had a shot, it was a fun ride, but sadly looks like its a wrap.
The saddest thing is that the narrative of NBA will be "Boston is too good, unbeatable" when they are just a very good team.
They are not Wade-Bosh-Lebron, Kobe-Shaq, Pop's Spurs or Steph's GS.
I never would have thought that a team with just Horford and KP at PF/C rotation can win a ring. I was wrong.
But it's very depressing honestly.
All the opponents choked in some ways in this PO and make more easy their path.
