Luka didnt look 270 last night. He looked a bit rusty but thats it. Mavs org fumbled the bag on this one.
Still looks out of shape though. Conditioning needs to be better.
Agree. AD conditioning is better.
AD's is so long (so skilled) that he's putting his body through all types of explosive movements that increase the risk of injury. His conditioning (especially muscle pliability) needs to be top notch. Dude needs to be well stretched and should purposely tone down his game until the 4th quarters.. There's a reason guys like Tim Duncan stayed healthy. He was a big strong guy that basically played 10 feet from the basket at most and kept his movements limited. If I'm paying AD 50-60 Million a year to stay healthy - you better believe he's gonna be on a strict pliability routine, minutes restriction, etc. If we're winning by a good margin, I want him out of games, etc.
As for Luka, a large portion of his game is dribbling to create - so he puts a lot of pressure on his knees, ankles, and calves. If he's carrying extra weight (more than what his body is used to) that extra pressure + his movements will result in soft tissue injuries. He needs to maintain a certain weight and he needs to be be well stretched as well. If I was in charged, pliability training would be mandatory and when we're winning games, he'll be on the bench whether he likes it or not. Mgmt decision is what the coach would be instructed to say if he complains.
