Well what was that 15 day embargo on not being able to sign DJJ for?

The good thing about it though is now we know Nico is not a pushover for Rich Paul. Nico just said Eff this, we move forward with our plans regardless.

I think he's a good pickup but only if we get one more piece. I'm not so sure he's a starting level player but I think he's a very good role player.

Didnt watch much nola last year. But if he cant start and werent able to grab a starting spot in nola. Sounds worrying.

The thing is that marshall, and grimes, is benchplayers. If they gonna replace djj, well, now they will guard the best player on the other team and be asked to keep up the offensive production vs starters. I would not be surprised if they drop atleast 5% in their 3pt shooting.

Still dont get what klutch lured djj with to make such a stupid decision

Agreed on Marhsall and Grimes being benchplayers. Now we are waiting on word on our starting small forward, Klay Thompson.

That cant guard anymore. So we are back to basicly back to a live and die by the 3pt team without a poa defender in the starting 5

I think management sat down and separated our problems in buckets. The biggest bucket being the team shooting 17%. That's the reason why Luka and Kyrie don't have a ring today. The biggest need, gets the fastest solution. Getting guys who can shoot the 3. Grimes, Marshall and hopefully Klay can do that. They address the biggest need first.

Why couldn't we just match the 3/30 DJJ deal? Thats way less then most of us predicted. I like Naji but only because I thought DJJ would go for much more then that.

3/30 is an easy match. Which leads me to think that something happened behind the scenes with Rich Paul.

I think DJJ was going to wait out the 15 days and then once Dallas moved on he had to scramble.

Yeah I think this as well. DAL moved on to Naji and DJJ panicked imo.

Love Marshall, wanted him and mentioned him in this thread, but he's not DJJ replacement as POA defender, I don't know what happened, why did DJJ go to Clips?

DJJ probably had more blocks and spectacular blocks than any 6'6" player in the NBA .

What happened to the #1 thing that had to be done this offseason, resign DJJ

Marshall and Grimes combined is more POA defense then DJJ imo.

Pretty sure the Mavs decided to go with shooting as opposed to defense here. Nothing is worse than when we get a stop on defense and can’t execute on offense in the finals. We clearly are stacking up on high percentage shooters.

I’m convinced secretly the Mavs preferred Naji’s shooting

Some of you are mistaking Marshall and Grimes as some kind of elite 3 pt shooters ........they are very average

Grimes is a good shooter when healthy (1st 2 years). Naji improved but he's not really a shooter even though his % were solid this year. He made less then 1 a game. Also he's not the POA defender DJJ is. He tries very hard but he just doesn't have the slithery ability and athleticism that DJJ is able to on D.

Once the Mavericks signed Marshall that hurt DJJ’s bargaining power. I am guessing he was going for more money with the Mavericks.

I'd disagree with that, they are different, we'll see how it goes...
