More not worthy of being top 10 than being a bust. he was a fine player, but I don't think at any point I'd label him a top 8 SG, which is what i would want form the 9th pick. someoen who is roughly top 8 in their own position.

With all due respect, I think you might be overemphasizing the 9th pick. While lottery it might be, you are hoping to land a really good starter for years to come. You don't typically get franchise players at 9. It sounds like that is what you are expecting. I could be wrong...

perhaps I'm expecting too much I can cop to that, but I'd at least like a betetr player than Foye Bayless or barbosa who Monk/Mitchell are likely to compare to, and especially exum and beaubois who nkinnia will most probably be

There's a chance Monk could also be a more explosive Monte Ellis. With Carlisle's history of working with guards I'd probably lean more towards Monk being a success than a bust.

Sounds like Lakers are dangling D’Angelo Russell in effort to get another Top 12 pick. Luke Kennard & Zach Collins appear to be targets twitter.com/ramonashelburn…

So would you guys trade #9 straight up for Russell?

I would if and only if the top 8 (in any order) are fultz-ball-jackson-issac-tatum-fox-smith jr-monk, meaning if we are elft with nkinnia, markannan, collins, kennard, etc. yes you take d-lo in a heartbeat. Hell, add Seth curry and see if they'll give up their pick in the 20's for good measure.

if fultz-ball-jackson-tatum-fox-issac-smith-monk are gone and Dallas refuses the trade in order to take Roddy B's taller brother, then this franchise will be destined to fail from here on out. Donnie and mark have done nothing collectively in a decade plus, Donnie gets credit for Dirk, but I'm starting to think it was poppa Nelson.

I don't know, I think I'd do it. Russell is a big PG and is already further along in his development than anyone we could get at 9.

If Ntilikina, Isaac, Monk are all gone, I trade that pick. Note I did not say Smith, I'd take Russell over him.

I have to aks, why in the world would you take Nkinna over Smith? Smith has the tools to be a legit PG, Nkinnia does not. He's essentially what happens if Exum and beaubois had a child.

The fact that the Knicks like Nkinnia should tell us all we need to know. Apparently, KP is not considered an untouchable cornerstone, what a dumpster fire of a franchise, and we'll be right there with them once Dirk retires if our main man is Frank Nkinnia

Watched some more Dennis Smith highlites, definitely torn over which PG I would want given the choice.

Lillard could be Smith's ceiling. Frank is definitely more of a wild card, has size unlike most PG's as well.

Starting to feel very comfortable with Smith, could be the spark we need..but would he do well under RC? Frank seems to be a more likable personality.

Regardless its starting to seem like a very nice option could fall to us at #9. Exciting stuff.

Smith has the athletic tools to be another Steve Francis except he'd be a better shooter. I think Smith is going to be the best point guard in the draft. Fultz is a jack of all trades, master of none type player. I think he'll be a solid starter, but not an all star. Ball has severe problems with his shot and is questionable on defense. Then you have the problem of his father getting involved and whispering in his ear. Smith has a way higher ceiling than both.

If Monk, Ball, Fultz, Smith are all gone then I would trade the 9th for Dlo. He's developed nicely and he's still young. There's no point in wasting that pick on someone like Kennard.

I think you can't go wrong with Smith or Monk. If your choice is Ntilikina then trade the pick.

I think DSJ's ceiling is a more explosive Lillard. Ball's ceiling is Andre Miller.

Really hope it's DSJ, have liked his tape since HS, didn't think he'd actually be there @ 9, to me he's the next up after Fultz, Ball, and Fox, and he might be better than all of them imo.

I would honestly be shocked if he doesn't go 8th. I don't know if Smith will be there at 9 though... Our pick will either be Monk or Smith, which is a great situation to be in

Return to Dallas Mavericks
