If you trade him - the goal is to get a very good player and some fillers and a late round draft pick, preferrably in the first round. What team should take a chance on A. Davis?
1. A team that has an identity and can win without him.
2. A team that can afford to rest him and hope he's healthy for the playoffs.
3. A team where he could be the piece that makes them a legit championship contender and puts them over the top in a 7 game playoff series.
4. A team that can afford to move a quality player and potential late 1st round draft pick.
Note: I dont have the facts on any team draft pick situation but just humor me a little ...
1. NewYork Knicks - Mitchell Robinson, OG Anuoby, late first rounder for A. Davis
This is a Knicks team that can win without AD. They can afford to rest him and get him ready for the playoffs. Who gives you the best shot to win a ring in the next 3 years, OG or AD? Its medium risk and high reward, imo. Dallas gets a very good wing defender, Cooper moves to his natural position, and we gain draft compensation. Mitchell is an expiring deal as well.
Any team that fits this bill should consider A. Davis, imo. I think it would be worth the risk. Remember, Kyrie Irving was in a similar position as A. Davis (with a injury history even if it wasnt as bad as AD's) a couple of years ago. The Knicks wouldnt have to give away the house to bring AD in either.
