Also we lost the best shooter in the draft just because we have the brother of Curry in our roster.

Carlisle hasn't had a PG drafted this high in a long time. Honestly probably since Chauncey Billups who he worked extremely well with. Billups was considered a bust when Boston got rid of him. Carlisle turned him into an all star.
I disagree. Dennis Smith is a ready contributor. He's only major shortcoming are size and injury history. He's a much better playmaking and floor game than Monk and Ntilikina. And he's a great fit in a system feature a lot of pick-n-roll with a great collection of shooter. Unlike Derrick Rose, he's adequate jumpers. As for his size issue, I don't think it is a huge problem. He does lead all rookies in assists and steals. He seems to say smart things about himself. Yes, the Mavs is playing teamball. That's the sentence I wanted to listen to from any rookie starting PG.
Comparably, Monk is more a Eric Gordon type of sixth man who gets blocks really often in paint. Ntilikina, while having solid tools, is not quite ready to contribute. By the end of his rookie season, he's more ready as a 3-and-d guy instead of a PG. If we're interested in him, we can always sign him to an ugly contract to replace Wes Matthews.
I am quite happy about the 9th pick. But I think we should have landed a late first to pick the bizarre athletic 7-2 footer who's got picked by Orlando at 25. Those two are on top of my wish list actually. Unfortunately, the Mavs pass on an opportunity to get him. But I won't blame them if they only see him as a C. I see some Porzingis in him. His lateral and vertical quickness and speed are outstanding. He shoots very well (over 40% from the field on small sample, though). And he can actually defend bulky big man. I consider him an excellent fit alongside Noel. I think he's even better than Markkanen and Collins even if he's a bit old as a rookie. We have a chance to set most young core starting spots with him being the 4. Meanwhile, Hartenstein follows all the way to 43rd. We should have acquired him rather easily by buying pick. I see him like another Motiejunas with much better outside shots and playmaking skills. But he's more a project compared with the 25th pick of course.
