Tucker can play PF. If Wood can guard 5, then it's a possible way to boost defense. And if the contract is short enough, it won't affect 2023 offseason plan.

I'd love to have him on our team if the money and years are right.Darren wrote:HMFFL wrote:PJ Tucker has opted to become an unrestricted free agent.

Re: Offseason Targets
We can give Tucker the TMLE but he would likely want 3 years. He'd be 40 at the end of of that contract so I'd think twice.
I do think the current Tucker that just finished the season would be a great fit though. That's the type of guy you want on your side and in the frontline.

Re: Offseason Targets
Tucker declined 7.4M. That means he is looking to be paid bigger than that. Mavs can only afford 6M max.

Cuban go cheap... Again
Cuban will keep that TPE. He will divert those funds to re-sign Brunson at $20 to $25M per year. Hopefully it's a front loaded declining contract so they can maximize space in 2024.

Re: Offseason Targets
I have some concerns about paying Brunson $25m per season, if that ends up being the number, but I don't believe we're bold enough not too.arkuo wrote:41Dirk41 wrote:https://thesmokingcuban.com/posts/dallas-mavericks-rumors-team-unlikely-to-use-10-9-million-trade-exception-01g60zt93rx4/amp

Re: Offseason Targets
I wouldn't call this a cheapness issue. Another team has to want to dump salary and the Mavs have to want the specific player. It would be nice to use but alot of these don't pan out.41Dirk41 wrote:https://thesmokingcuban.com/posts/dallas-mavericks-rumors-team-unlikely-to-use-10-9-million-trade-exception-01g60zt93rx4/amp

Good news for the league. I expect him to stay with the Clippers but we'll see.

Re: Offseason Targets
Any interest with Joe Ingles for the minimum?
I know he's older now but at a Brian Cardinal role with limited minutes he can be good.

I think its better to have a few at the end of the bench guys that are young and got a possibility at a future in mavs. Like omoruyi, maybe that center and such. Some that can develop in mavs and learn from the rest, and can become cheap rotation pieces for many years. Getting the old guys like ingles, dragic and such does nothing for me really, if they more then likely provides nothing in the po.

$25M are rookie numbers. I think it ends up at $30M. It's a bidding war. Wonder who ends up paying.
If we offer the 5th year, a S/T might become more likely (s.t. he gets the 5 years with NYK - because why not) with real incentives going our way. Like our pick back.

Re: Offseason Targets
Derrick Jones Jr. is a realistic low cost option for wing defender. 6'7 with a 7 foot wing span. jump out of the gym on one end and play defense the other end, off ball type. Budget option Mathisse Thybulle.
If Nico manages to split the TMLE with Derrick Jones Jr and Hartenstein, with the minutes available for Jaden Hardy and Powell's minutes for Christian Wood, I'd be okay with that. Run it back.

One of them is realistic... Two is too much

If Taurean Prince is tired of losing inn Minnesota, there is your 3rd 3&D guy you can play with Bullock and DFS.
