He's extention elligible in July.

Ok, so in short the FO hasn't had the ability to offer him one yet? That was also my assumption.

Yes, he can't be extended before the offseason (like Luka last year)

So surely that will be taken care of and the criticism here seems inappropriate.

The rest was just fine tuning, he showed a willingness to improve. That should have been it. The Mavs are too reluctant to sign their young developing players to a cheap contract.

Sorry, I thought that it was this year. It’s true, he was drafted 2 years after Brunson, it should have been obvious, my mistake.

McGee seems to play better with Kyrie than Luka. I think I’d really like to see McGee and Green on the floor with Kyrie and I think Hardy would be best used when Luka is on the floor. I really think Wood can play with either.

When they uploaded that first scrimmage footage of Kyrie and the Mavs in LA I think 2 or 3 of the 4 or 5 plays shown on tape were Kyrie linking up with McGee. Found that interesting right away. Looks like there is some merit to it.

Maybe it’s the pace that Luka plays at? McGee had his best success playing with a smaller PG that moves well and is quick (Curry). Whatever the reason, if they can get anything out of McGee that would be huge.

That's my 1st thought seeing this offense, Bertans will look like 20-21 Duncan Robinson, but it all hinges on Luka buying in

Honestly Luka really going to have to change some of his game. This could just be the next evolution of Luka. If he can learn to play without the ball he and Kyrie together really will be unstoppable.

I think Green is eligible for an extension this off season. $60M for 4 seasons I think is the latest I read that he will likely get.

I am not sure if that's something he needs to learn. He was playing without the ball quite successful before. As example, when Slovenia won EuroBasket finals. I know that this was long time ago, but from what I saw his current role in the Mavs is more by necessity than anything else.
I think that until now he didn't have really much choice, but I believe that he actually can play differently if that's required for better team result. We will see soon.
