Big wing for sure. He can handle the ball well and, while he came into the year shooting the ball poorly, he got himself to near 40% from long range and 84% from the FT line. He's your prototypical ball handling SF with self creation abilities...a true number 1 overall pick

They have a lot of options that all work out really well for the Mavs. That includes just keeping Cooper Flagg.

Agreed. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Why? You guys traded the top 2 superstar in the league for negligible pieces. Why would a rookie be any more or diff?

Sad but true.

Luka is still >>>>>>> Flagg

Well of course. If you're judging talent.

But that's not part of the deal. The deal is to save LA.

Anyone thinks Flagg can play defense?

Flagg being all American as it is will be enough to sell merch in Dallas. I know the butthurt Luka fans will reply and say but but but Luka can get you 25 points per game on +547. That's not the point. It was save LA, save the NBA ratings, then get rewarded with a chance at a restart without paying the supermax. That last bit is important because Dumont's wallet seems closed for Luka. If the earnings are the same, why spend more.

He’s listed at 6’9” so that means he’s really about 6’7”-6’8”. That’s still big for a Wing. And being an excellent 2-way player he makes the Mavs front court defense extremely formidable.

I know there has been a lot of talk about trading Gafford for a PG but I think it might b better to give him his contract (I heard someone say 4 years for $100M). Then if you need to trade him when you pay Lively you do it then, not now.

Then go speak to Chicago to see what they want for Coby White or even Josh Giddey.

Flagg looks like a PJ Washington replacement.

PJ was on his way out with the AD/Lively/Gafford FC and the big needs in the backcourt regardless. This just makes it even easier

Flagg plays PJ's position on a small rookie deal. Allows you to trade Gaff and PJ for something in the backcourt.

They’re going to pay Kyrie this off season. Hopefully they keep Gafford or resign him. Having Cooper Flagg’s rookie contract on the books instead of KD’s $40M+ makes more sense.

Although what about Giannis?

I think if Giannis is on the table, you have to take it no matter what other people say.

Good luck to make some big trades without including Flagg...

Any Giannis trade will have Flagg going to Milwaukee.

In my mind it would be Klay, PJ, Gaff, Martin and Flagg for Giannis. Too much IMO but with Nico there, who the F knows what he wants to do? Is Giannis a Nike guy?

Mavs better draft Flagg and keep him.
If they trade anyone it better be Davis.

I'm not sure the conspiracy is completely over. If Gafford is gifted to LA for nothing, I'll be completely convinced it is real.
Watch for a Gaff to LA for scrubs and the 2031 pick. I'm calling it now.

That will be Gaff for AR15.

There is no guarantee that Flagg will ever reach Giannis level but I would still not do the trade: Giannis would not turn this time into a legit contender, the fit with AD is suspect (Davis wants to play at the 4 and both are under 30% shooters from the arc) and then we have nothing left to complete the roster. This team still lack a true PG even if Kyrie was healthy.
The best possible option is to rebuild around Flagg, this has to be his team.

Dallas landing both Flagg and Bueckers at number 1 in months is insane.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
