What a terrible trade by NOP, Wow!

The Mavs gets Wiggins who has got Luka lots of problems in Western Finals and switch.Klay into a younger pure shooter with Finals experience.
The reason for MIA to trade Wiggins, is targeting to create even more cap space in 2026 summer, and this trade won't serve this purpose.

Nico mentioned PJ and Coop will play the wings.
That meand AD's playing center.
Gaff may still get sent out for a PG if needed.

Brandon Williams will have Brandon William minutes.
DLO is taking Dinwiddie or Exum's minutes. I think this is where it's at. Will Dinwiddie do a better job at it than DLO?
I think DLO for $5M is robbery. You take that 1 year deal and roll the dice on DLO. We've seen what Dinwiddie is capable of.
DLO is disposable after a year if he doesn't work out.
Dante Exum will be back in Dallas this year too.
Exum is good when he is healthy to play.............but after two years of time, I find that he will not stay healthy

Forgot about Exum, if Mavs want to retain him, they need to dump Powell.

If you're not getting an ultimate Kyrie replacement at star level, then you'd better not overspend. I'd rather keep Gafford and PJ. And wait and see how things look like with a super big lineup. It may revolutionize the NBA eventually. But it has to revolutionize our brain and common knowledge first. Anyway, with the way OKC's constructed, they still win a champ. Three pointers are learnable. But the strength, toughness and rebounding prowness is what I think the Mavs has to change. The Mavs is big but is getting bullied on boards and in the paint somewhat against some teams. The Mavs has to really playing big mentally and physically. I don't think I want to play AD at center. Just keep the lineup. Find a stopgap PG for short-term or a long-term combo guard on bigger role. Do not overpay for mediocre. For example, if you were to pay DoLo, then it's for only one year. This is not a starting lineup PG. And DoLo lacks suitors for obvious reason. DoLo does not deserve more than Hardy. This is something not possible under the new hard cap rule.

I'd bet on Malcom Brogdan for multi-year deal, though. I want to explore Cam Thomas sign-n-trade as well. The problem is not overspend. You have to pay somebody afterall. But let's look at deep playoff teams. Most of them are usable players on reasonable terms (except NYK). You have got to find right coaching staff as well. Now that everyone's gone. You'd better hurry up until it's too late.

I feel like we're just waiting on the Lakers deal for Kessler to finish so we could send Gaff out for Sexton. Utah also drafted Walter Clayton. They don't need to cough up $30M for Sexton anymore.
AD and Lively will play center this season it seems. With AD starting the game at PF and closing games at C with PJ and Coop flanking him both sides.

I'd wait until the training camp or the February deadline before trading Gafford. Maybe you trade AD next offseason, who knows?

Bizarre as it is, Denver makes Jokic available in talks. It seems like another Adam Silver's moves. Lebron and Reaves for Jokic and Porter could end up in LA And Denver gets 2026 top pick as a compensation.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2025 Trade thread -- Roster and Cap
I'm not sure this will be true when the season starts but Nico already hinted at the possible starting lineup of...
C-Lively
PF-AD
SF-PJ
SG-Flagg
PG-Kyrie
I mean... this doesn't look like it will work out on offense at all, unless Flagg develops great ball handling skills along with 3pt range. Then PJ at SF was never the best choice either. He was way more comfortable at the 4.
I don't know, all this is so premature... i guess we'll see when we get there.
(And again, this is Nico's idea before someone jumps my back)

I listened to it again. Nico said PJ and Flagg would make interesting wings. Could be that both are starting or PJ comes off the bench as another wing. PJ coming off the bench for Flagg and AD would be huge. He's got the MPJ or Aaron Gordon role.
It would make sense IMO because we don't know what we're getting with Flagg yet. I'd like to see him against NBA level defenders first.

If Jokic gets sent to LA, you can bet that Denver wins the first overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft.

Logically, there might be no way for San Antonio to offer Fox a new $150M deal when they just got Castle and now Harper on really cheap deals.
There is a chance Fox is being shopped. You guys think Mavs are in on it?

Yeah it would make sense but keep in mind, these are proven veteran role players with possibly nice contracts. In that sense it would be better if they start. I'm not convinced an 18/19yo Flagg will be as effective, or better said consistent, as someone like PJ.
Best possible solution would be AD at center, PJ at PF then Flagg at SF. But we know AD doesn't want that and we also know Mavs suddenly have way too many centers and both Lively/Gafford will need playing time. Unless Nico makes the most reasonable move and trades Gafford and gives Lively 30+ minutes which would be needed for his own development.

If they include a bunch of picks, they can have AD for him

Nico is such an idiot, zero basketball knowledge, just a product of who you know.
PJ and Flagg should eb the starting forwards, hands down no question. Trade AD for the best available guard. My vote, though he's more of a wing, is Jaylen Brown. Still fits a lot better with he rest of the guys

YES!! I forgot Celtics are having a fire sell. Brown instead of AD would be a killer lineup for Mavs. There is no way OKC can beat that... That's a great idea but unfortunately Nico is not smart enough to figure that out.
Lively
Pj
Flagg
Brown
Kyrie
...and a very deep bench. Omg, that would be insane. So much more versatility on guard/wing positions and a much more reliable player in Brown than AD. Plus you keep the flexibility of juggling Gafford/Lively/PJ big wing lineups.
