I want to see LeBron with this team, I don't trust their centers, having 4 wings (4 of Luka/LeBron/Rui/Laravia/Smart) + a guard (Reaves/Vincent) lineup is possible now.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

I see you're a big Ayton hater.

I see you're a big Ayton hater.Sure they will play some small ball, but you have few teams in the West that won't go against.
I didn't like what I saw the 1st 2 games, I actually liked him with Reaves much more than with Luka.

Luka didn't play majority of preseason, so I would give them few games to understand each other. More importantly Ayton looks pretty solid defensively.

Grimes with 22/6/13 +32
GJ Nico, at least Martin is paid now more than the guy who was suppose to be a salary cap dump. What an incredible GM this team has.

It's insane because we so drastically need Grimes right now. Martin? Not so much.

Agreed! Brad Davis and Ron Harper could solve our backcourt problems.
I went to college with Steve Nash all 4 years, and then was in Dallas from the year he was traded. Cuban lost Nash because he was told Nash's body would wear down, then he won 2 MVPs. That said, I got over it and remained a Mavs fan.
Acceptance is the final stage of grief.

The two you mentioned are about as likely to come back as the two I mentioned.

I’ve been a fan of the Mavs since ‘92. Jason Kidd was my favorite player. Superstar PG traded for 1 decent player and bunch of spare parts (sound familiar). I was devastated. I took a break from the team for about a year. No bitching and moaning. No trying to convince everyone I come across to hate the Mavs. I got over it because at the end of the day it’s a game. None of this matters in the real world. Eventually Ross Perot Jr sold the team. The same will eventually happen with Miriam Adelson and the Mavs will have a whole new front office.

I prefer Kidd or Nash at the PG.

Ya, I don't see the Adelson's in it for the long term. As Cuban said, they look at the ownership more as a real estate holding. By the way, I've despised those people for decades, political reasons. Yet, do you hear me being caustic about them on EVERY post?

They have been owners for a short minute and are already in a legal battle with the Stars. They are so corrupt and bad it's not even funny. In the process they also managed to rile up entire Mavs fanbase as well. It's incredible how much damage they have done in such a short time.

They’re part of the Oligarchy that are buying up all of the right wing politicians.
Just like when Ross Perot Jr was the owner of the I cannot wait for them to be gone. I’m still going to root for my Mavs though. It’s not the players fault the team is owned by a bunch of devils.

Are you still sure that Ayton+Laravia are worse than DFS?
It looks to me that Lakers had lowkey the best offseason of all Nba teams. 3 potential starters for free and below 20 mio salary is just unbelievable.
Edit: i see they're paying Nick Smith junior, who was 27th pick few years back and just scored 25 points, 600k.

Did you watch NSJ before? He may have found the way, or this maybe an outlier game.
Ayton can score, he can't defend and isn't a vertical spacer or hard roller.
I want the Lakers to win, I just don't see it.
We watched Luka for 7 years, he puts a very high floor offensively, he doesn't need much help there, he also can have disastrous defense, this is where he needs help, I remain very skeptical about their ability to defend and cover for him, the only one that I absolutely love is Marcus Smart, hell I think Hayes is a better fit with Luka than Ayton.
To put it bluntly, Lakers supporting cast is worse in the Wolves matchup than that from last year, the only reason I think they would win this year is Luka and Reaves improvement, not the new supporting cast.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Ayton is actually a very decent defender and he's good rebounder. While I agree he's not the roller, but he can play pick&pop, use pocket passes and has very good touch for a C. Is it perfect player for Luka? No. But he's big upgrade for Hayes, who was unplayable last year in playoffs and Lakers still have Hayes as backup. Last year all other Cs were unplayable.
I don't know why you don't like Laravia. He's very active in D, very good in defections and steals. Top 20 in Nba in both categories. Excellent ball handler for his position, good body, can shoot and cut. He's very young too. It's true that Luka mostly needs role players like DFS around him, but we have also seen that players he had in Mavs were too limited in offensive side. That proved eventually too much in both playoffs runs. He won't have this problem in Lakers. Doubling and trapping him would be mission impossible with almost everyone being solid shooters and capable of ball handling.
I understand that NSJ game was more fluke than anything else. But they have won yesterday because of him and Hornets are paying him. Having a player, who can go off, when all stars are out is worth something for sure. You don't get 21 years old first round pick for free every day either.
How you can't see supporting cast improvement and watch Lakers winning games without LeBron, Luka and now even AR?
Comparing rosters,
Ayton is basically addition for free, 17/10 player with solid rim protection and you still have Hayes for a backup. That's a big improvement.
Smart looks better than DFS and can do things DFS couldn't.
Laravia is new addition, who can score, playmake, rebound and defend.
They have lost only DFS. Who while being good defender scored only 8 points in RS and 6 in playoffs. I honestly think Smart alone is better than DFS. Other 2 are just a big plus. Lakers with short bench desperately needed players, who can score.
And then you have age difference. Ayton and Laravia are much younger than 32 years old DFS, who is also longterm injured.
Those 3 are averaging almost 40 points, 2 of them are much better in rebounds and steals than DFS and one is pretty good shot blocker.
And remember, they got all those players without using any kind of assets or draft capital and are paying them extremely little.
