One of his biggest problem is that he was always Mr nice guy, which is a problem if your best trait is defense, he got in KD's face today and pissed the hell out of him, loved it.

That's what a full training camp can do for you. Green got drafted during the pandemic when training camp was not existent and the players got drafted from their living room couches via Zoom.

Re: Time to discuss josh Green
Not a Mavs fan, but as an Aussie, I have followed Green before his days at Arizona.
Josh has shown that he understands the game, is a great team man and also a very solid defender. He is now also showing the improved shooting and more willingness to shoot when open. He's still going to have quiet games, but he's certainly shown he can ve a valuable piece on a good team.
I think the worst thing the Mavs can do is move him into the starting lineup over Bullock. Don't rush things, and let him cement a role in the core 7-8 players on the roster. He's never going to be a high scoring player, and hisshooting percentages will drop, but if he can sit around 38-40% from 3, he's a real asset to the Mavs.
LOVE his attitude too - like a lot of Australian players (except Simmons), it's ALL about the TEAM

Sometimes a player's greatest challenge is coming to grips with his role on the team

Re: Time to discuss josh Green
I think there's 2 reasons why Josh has improved so much and it goes beyond just a normal training camp:
1) He changed his shooting stroke back to his previous. In an interview yesterday, DFS mentioned this. I think we can all agree his shot form looked inconsistent and messy the past few years. I think going back to what worked for him before really has helped him to stop overthinking and feel comfortable with his shot. Hopefully when his shots inevitably stop falling (he ain't shooting 60%+ all year) that he continues to have his confidence.
2) He's playing with more control and not going 100 mph all the time. He used to play hot potato or make a really quick decision with no real plan in sight. He still does this every now and then but there have been so many instances now where you see him slow down or stop, see the floor and make a decision. The Nets game is a really good example of this. Josh credits Kyle Lowry for his development on this in the offseason so kudos to Lowry for helping our young buck.
Hopefully he continues to play well and hoping Kidd continues to increase his minutes. I want to see him in more pressure situations and see how he reacts.

Re: Time to discuss josh Green
I see you Josh Green.
Loved how simple he kept it when a reporter told him Coach Kidd had been saying he needed to get him more minutes, and asked Josh if he felt he was forcing Kidd's hand.
Didn't make it about himself at all. He's clearly working out how he can help his team now.

Green is one of the lowest paid guys on the team. When you have your low cost option perform like that, it is always a plus. You cant have 15 guys earn $18M each. Having a low cost option that can have great nights here and there is nice.

One thing I noticed about Green, he doesn't attempt to finish on soft contexts at the rim, he needs to practice finishes at the rim with contact.

Don't worry, if there is a way to screw up Green's next contract, Cuban will find a way. Just like with Brunson, McGee and countless others.
But i'm happy that i always believed in him, just not the role Kidd was talking about him being a playmaker, instead a great 3&D guy.

Bane was passed by GM's due to his age. He's currently 24 years old but was regarded as the best shooter. He was on my board like many of you. Green will never live up to what Bane will accomplish on a personal level in the league.

Are we sure Josh in 5 years can't be at that level?

Probably Green and Hardy development will be an important part of our future title chance.

Re: Time to discuss josh Green
Very good season for him, not a real breakout season but a lot of solid all around games.
He needs to work on his mid range game because is very mediocre, if he can add this to all package i see him like a perfect role player for Luka and maybe a starter for a contender.
His ability of penetrate and kick out is amazing.
I have to admit that after the judgement of "Mr. No Basketball Knowledge" my hope have increased a lot

I think his issue in those situation maunly is playing time. He will get it once he been in the situation enough times. Feels like he will become a very good player, just took a confidence boost and his first summer off to get it kickstarted. With his athletic ability, seems to have found his shot, passing and cutting, i dont really see where his ceiling is at, or rather could be. If he keeps evolving, i dont see any physical or psychological reason he couldnt be a top 30 player in the league? Or ghis could bd as good as he gets, which is fine for a pick around 20

I mean, never say never, but Bane's averaging 21.6 pts, 5.1 rbd and 4.2 assists while shooting above .4 from three third straight year on a really large volume. And doing so on a winning team. These are basically allstar numbers. Green is averaging 7.7, 2.4, 1.4. Per 36 min Greeb averages about half of what Bane averages.
Dead certain I guess not, but still extremely unlikely. Would really need to put in MIP like improvement to come even close in consideration.

Well I guess he has 2 more years age wise to get to that level. If he keeps up his play from this season, gets 30+min and keeps improving... I don't see why not.
