Yeah, Brunson + Dinwiddie + DFS + picks >> Kyrie, but they screwed up the Brunson situation.

Just be patient, this Kyrie guy NEVER disappoints.

Sadly, you are right. But perhaps he will tow the company line until the extension is signed

Also in this apparently the Nets didn't want Wood.

If rumors are true, Suns offered a far better package

My thoughts exactly Teff

But the boxscore only fanatics are thrilled I'm sure. Kyrie scores more than 20, he good, DFS bad

And people thought Donnie was bad.
This is the worst trade in Mavs history.
I never thought the Dale Ellis for Al Wood would ever be topped.

Nico sucks, he has 2 of the worst already.

But all three 3J trades in the 90s were also horrific

Wondering what we can get for Luka now...doubt he'll make it to the end of the season before demanding a trade.

Tatum would be my wish, but having Irving here kills that

That's the problem....Irving kills about any kind of chemistry.
This was the worst possible thing the FO could do to retain Luka.
I hope like hell they don't resign this guy or Luka will definitely be gone.

Will be interesting to see Josh Green getting extended minutes. He's been better that DFS all season. Hopefully he can maintain that production with a new role.

As for Kyrie, I think he'll do fine. I think him and Luka will go great together basketball wise. It's really the surrounding parts that need work.

In the worst case, Irving doesn't work out in DAL, and we are not able to resign him in the offseason. We at least created the cap space for a max player. However, this may be the final chance to please Luka and make a capable team around him to contend.

I remember when Christian Wood was with Houston and he became vocal with James Harden when James was wanting to be traded.

I would expect the same to occur if Kyrie starts some antics.

Ball dominate 23yo superstar plus ball dominate nut equals perpetual conflict and frustration.

Yes, that's how I feel. Kyrie is one of the biggest problems amongst all the players, but mainly for the team he plays for, but he's a media goldmine, knows how to market himself to stay relevant, yet I don't believe Silver is concerned with Kyrie much.

Luka will have his first true test with Kyrie so I hope it works. Money is Kyrie's main priority (wants the extension), but I hope he still has the passion, and shows professionalism with us. Cuban and company are already a joke in the eyes of many, but Cuban will benefit from the attention, and he's probably not to concerned about Luka being upset, if it fails, because Luka has probably realized that gaining cap space is the main object. If it fails we achieve that.

League sources say that Irving has not been promised a new contract by the Mavericks, who clearly want to see how the rest of the season goes for their new Luka Dončić/Irving backcourt before making a long-term commitment to a player who missed almost as many games as he played in three-and-a-half seasons as a Net.

Joe Tsai did not want to see Kyrie Irving traded to Lakers?

The Nets, rather than trading with Phoenix or the Lakers, ultimately came away with the two Mavericks they wanted most and a better win-now duo than L.A. could offer: Dinwiddie and Finney-Smith. The Nets also succeeded, as one source close to the process put it, in meeting one of the presumed objectives held by team owner Joe Tsai by sending Irving somewhere other than the Lakers — his preferred destination.
