Bravo to team, coaching staff and also front office. We are back at WCF. I was hyped up yesterday but dont have much energy to write down props for the team. Its just evident that having Lively-PJ-Gafford made a big change to this team. That trio would change a lot for most teams. Imagine adding Lively-PJ-Gafford to SUNS instead of Beal-Nurkic.
Nico brought the team back where he started. Hopefully next year, we'll have some home court advantage in playoffs as well.
There are owners and GMs who insist on the mistakes, or double-down on mistakes -> like Suns. But our FO realized their mistakes of last year. Great pick in Lively, thanks to lottery, thanks to last two games tanking and thanks Presti trading up. Then PJ-Gafford for dirt cheap. It was highway robbery.
Seriously though, 2024 NBA Draft's top 3 pick may not be as good as D.Lively. Its like winning lottery for Mavs FO. Simply great.

Btw Green contributed pretty well in this playoffs. He is making his 3pt shots with confidence. I think he is going to justify his contract. It just takes years to develop into this 3&D role.
Some people were asking PROSPER and blaming Kidd for not playing him is simply wrong. Carlisle, then Kidd gradually increased Green's minutes as he deserved more. You cannot suddenly give Prosper or rookie year Green a 15mpg then expect him to suddenly develop his game. It takes years. They need to learn from mistakes and downfalls. Improve in training camps and work with their shooting coach to get to this level. A lot of players in OKC didn't have that confidence in their shots like our Green-DJJ-PJ.

I'd still trade him for bigger body on SF or a pick to be able to extend DJJ...I think you can find a veteran with similar abilities on a cheaper contract...I just don't see that much upside with him...his ballhandling hasn't improved much, he's too short for a SF, not the Best IQ , but he is athletic and improved his corner 3's... he's not someone that is irreplaceable

Nuggets. They don’t have the perimeter defense the thunder had. Kyrie and Luka should be able to put up much better numbers in that series. However, jokic on lively is going to be rough. Won’t be surprised if a story of the series is lively in foul trouble.
And they are missing interior defense. All the Mavs need to do is play same physical defense we have been playing and show up on offense. Luka and Kyrie have been missing and now there is literally no excuse if we play Denver.
It's more about Kyrie, fat but normal Luka can score against anyone, he had 3 very efficient games against OKC. Kyrie was the one that struggled the whole series.
Kyrie struggled offensively, but I think a big part of that as by design. They were pretty much selling out and doubling him like the whole time, and that's the biggest reason PJ averaged like 18 ppg this series; Kyrie just made the right play, and the right play cost OKC time and time again. The only time it didn't was game 4. I would've liked Kyrie to attack before the double came though, that was weird. I think he's got a mental block with that stuff and he needs to have coaches tell him it's okay to do the AND 1 mixtape stuff in moments you need to score. 4 and 5 shots in a half is just unacceptable. But Kyrie has legitimately been one of the best defenders and playmakers in the postseason thus far. He got them that win in Game 2, was a big reason they won in game 3 despite having only 9 points, he had 11 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
But I agree, next series you can't rely on PJ and role players making every shot. Kyrie is gonna have to go 2016-2017 mode, which we saw he can still do as he did against the clippers.

Kidd is the first Dallas Mavs coach to get to the WCF twice.
Dallas Maverick coaches that made the WCF
John McLeod 1
Avery Johnson 1
Rick Carlisle 1
Jason Kidd 2

Seems odd that he's on instagram or anywhere saying anything like this when he only played 6 minutes. Most players would be thinking about a trade.

who said he is irreplaceable or untradeable?

- Green Sucks!
- Kidd must be fired for playing Green!
+ Green is doing decently in playoffs, better than OKC role players in making open 3s.
- He is not untouchable, irreplaceable
Mavs made WCF two years ago, and send almost anyone away that is not named Luka. So yes Green is not irreplaceable like many others.

Sorry guys but the Tony Brothers of the Mods strikes back again
DJJ was unreal in last 3 games. I've told ya that he has to take those open 3s, if he can hit those shoots with a good % then he is way better than DFS.
Last 4 minutes of PJ were amazing, he has great attitude. The Refs took out him in the first half but he came back strong. Not so easy.
Kyrie with the usual killer second half.
Luka is Luka. Maybe too much TOs but Dort is a dog.
No words for DLII. He destroyed that Chet skinny ass.
He is a stud, i can't believe that he is still a rookie.
We are in the WCF again despite Kidd, it's amazing.
He was badly out coached all series again, the defense after last OKC TO was comic.
He can't prepare games and he is still too sloooooow on making adjustments. We know it and we have to live with it. Unfortunately.
We are lucky that Luka and Kyrie don't need a real coach, the are floor generals on the court.
I don't know if it's enough for win the title, probably not. But we are here so fight until the end
All the people talking about OKC future... Yes they are good but don't forget that Luka and DLII are younger than SGA and Chet

I'm on my last strike for a 30 day ban for calling someone a clown on the general board, while a mod that was a Thunder fan called a Mavs fan a douche and of course nothing happened to him. Rules are for the peasants.

The point I was trying to make was that you could find someone on a minimum contract that could give you what Green gives you...yes,his contract is fair because he's still Young(People still believe he'll get better, I don't),but if he was older then there's no way he gets this kind of money for that production...I'd trade Green Just so that I could keep/resign DJJ, who's been far more valuable to the team
