That’s what I’m saying! Defensively the Mavs are light years better than they were, with AD playing the 4 next to Lively or Gaff. They’re also not done making moves I suspect. Can they get a PG? Do they make a trade for a guy like Collin Sexton?

Mavs are in a tough spot to do any more trades. Salary wise, they basically traded all they could. Unless Nico decides to do a complete reshuffle but bench has been solid when Luka was playing.

Also keep in mind, Mavs paid extra 2nd round pick to the Jazz to get rid of Doncic. So yeah, the entire thing is incredible and i'm not sure what else they can do to get a good playmaker next to Kyrie because Kyrie is a 2 not a 1. On top of it all, defense with Luka was actually really good this year, so trade like this wasn't needed at all.

Tell me honestly, do you really believe AD can make contender from Doncic less Mavs? Kyrie' is not the first option for the contender, never was.

AD is the first option IMO. Kyrie will be 2nd. Klay will be 3rd.

It doesn't matter not AD and not Kyrie are legit first option. I don't think Klay will stay.

My friend, I kinda appriciate your attempt to bring in a bit of optimism, but he was against the Hornets..

In 2018 it would have been a fantastic core to build around, but we are in 2025..

And I just find out that if AD waives his trade kicker, we are below the taxline.
Third most richest owner in the league and we had to move our franchise player to allow them to save money.

And Luka got his 40 against the Hornets as well. Any one of these less impressive than the other?

If It's Luka, fans are glazing. If it's AD who does it, it doesn't matter apparently

Did Luka wish Palestinians "Merry Christmas" or something?
He takes them to The Finals, get Klay, and now want an injured guy in his 30s who chokes.

From Brad Townsend.

I'm told that this was Nico Harrison's deal, that it took several weeks to play out after the Mavericks reached out to the Lakers, and that Harrison got full support from Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont.

Mavs GM Nico Harrison on stunning Luka Doncic trade: ‘It’s my job to make tough decisions’

Nico Harrison told The News that he and Lakers counterpart Rob Pelinka began having "basketball" conversations more than a month ago.

“Then all of a sudden we’re like, ‘Would you ever do this?’

‘Nah, you’re joking, right?’

‘Hmm. Interesting. Maybe I would.’

I guess Nico is playing NBA2k and thinks this is funny lol...

Cmon dude, you're smarter that this.

You posted it to prove that AD is a fine 1st option and that's silly, with all due respect, Hornets are among the very worst teams in the league, but even if it was against Boston (if I'm not wrong he played well vs them some weeks ago) it would have proved nothing, we dont need a single performance to understand if AD is a legit 1st option, we have his whole career.

Funny enough we didn't see you much earlier this year, you materialised after the trade.

This isn’t the only Mavs board my friend. I don’t post here regularly because of the toxic nature of the posters here. I’d rather talk to people who see more than just the negative. The sky is not ALWAYS falling.

But you're here today, aren't you? ;)

This stinks to high heaven. The Mavs could have gotten so much more for Luka!

Anthony Davis is 31 and his contract is an albatross. He'll be making 64 million in 3 years, and he's never been a player capable of carrying a team. And it's not like the Mavs are on the cusp of competing. They're just old and mediocre now.

If you had to rank the most valuable players in the NBA, Luka would be in the top 3 due to his age. This trade is utterly bizaarre.

I’m reminded of Art Model taking the Browns to Baltimore.

It feels almost that level of betrayal.

Except for the fact it’s the Lakers, I can’t believe the league allowed it,

Exactly it's the Lakers. Can't believe the mavs fo allowed the Lakers to nab him for pennies on the dollar most of all. Doncic should've handily netted more than the Blazers got for Dame a few years ago I'm really trying to make sense of this deal

It makes no sense.

It looks like 27 teams didn’t know about this. Why not create a trade war?

You know you didn’t get enough value when everyone’s first thought was that Shams was hacked.

Might as well trade AD, Kyrie and Klay now, cuz we're not winning **** for the next 10 years. Hopefully we actually get picks this time and not 5 year older downgrades for them.

Sam Amick reporting that Nico approached one other team but that team declined a Luka trade.

I'm not here to pile on. When I first saw this last night my immediate response was empathy for Mavericks fans.

This is the equivalent of us trading Wemby for AD. It makes no sense and should be investigated.
