What happened to all of the haters?

They're busy hating on the Kyrie trade

I might be eating some crow on the Kyrie trade.
Can't wait to see how him and Luka mesh now.

Only these guys are clearly better
Edwards, Ball, Haliburton, Bane, Maxey, McDaniels, Okongwu

I would rather have Green over McDaniels, Okongwu and even Ball.

Green does sooooo much on the floor, feels like he's literally flying up and down all the time just guarding everyone. He's like a bunny on steroids lol.

My biggest concern on Josh was his ability to create for himself but that part of his game is beginning to develop.
I still think he could eventually become the perfect fit next to Luka. He is showing he has the tools, now he just needs to continue to improve upon those skills and become consistent with them.

I don't think he'll ever be a great on-ball scorer, he'll be a swiss army knife, defender and finisher, which is fine, keep working on defense, and refine decision making of when to go for the steal and when to stay with the play, keep working in ability shoot and finish and he'll be an elite role player, he'll never have the length of Mikal Bridges or strength of OG, but he has amazing foot speed and quick hands.

To give credit to Donnie Nelson, he drafted him and before drafting him tried hard to trade up for Haliburton, he has some draft blunders, but he pushed hard for Giannis, Luka and Haliburton and when he couldn't pick Haliburton he picked a good player, Maxey and Bane are better, but you can't fault a guy for taking a good player when at least 8 before him took a worse player.

If his % on 3s remain around 38/40% he could be the best fit ever for Luka-Kyrie.

He can do a little bit of everything.

Just linstened to thinking basketball latest episode, it was about the evolution of 3&D players, they raved about Josh Green (and DFS), also mentioned Bullock.

This forum is insane, i read a lot of posters who want to get rid of him ASAP :banghead:

He is a 22yo on his breakout season... Just some notes :

-"Your" idol DFS at 22yo was at the college. No NBA games played yet. Zero games.
And he sucks for the first 2seasons until he was 25yo.

-Brunson,Bane and Bridges were on their first NBA season with normal ups and downs for that age.

I don't want to say that he will become better than those guys (probably not) but he is a kid and he played a very good season.
He needs to lift weights and improve his 3s (anyway he shoots 40% this season).
Trade him is just stupid.

Plus he fits very well with Luka and Kyrie, put other 2 good starters next to them and you have a contender.

He is a very solid pick for 18th in the draft. He is better than the alternative of Bey at that choice. Bey has regressed while Green has progressed. He is the third best on the team and one of three players worth keeping around.

I think it's a tale of 2 (or 3?) different years.

His 1st 2 years: Most agreed that he was a bust. He was erratic, couldn't shoot, heck he wouldn't shoot. He was very athletic but often looked like a headless chicken out there.

Current Year: He's improved dramatically. He's slowed his game down, his ballhandling improved and most importantly his jump shot and form is so much better. At this point, he's a solid player and solid selection at where he was drafted. If he keeps improving his shot, he's going to be a highly compensated role player at some point.

The haters will be angry that we didn't get Bane or Maxey but that's not Green's fault. If you're mad about that, be mad at Donnie and Cuban. Get in line though since there's like 20-29 other teams that wish they drafted those guys too.

Did Donnie draft him though? Word had it that Donnie got in a hissy fit and walked out before the pick was made.

And while we can't fault Green for who was drafted after him, we can fault him for how he plays against those guys and his part in the team's horrible D. Desmond Bane called him out as a DNP last year, and Green has still yet to respond on the court when they play each other. Bane is his boss every time. And his defense stinks.

And where are all those guys that were dancing after the Kyrie trade?

You seem to bring this same point everywhere and every chance you get. Is anyone supposed to be surprised that Bane outplays Green? Everyone knows Bane is better. Greens a role player, he ain't gonna be rolling up thinking he's Kobe or MJ once he sees Bane.

Just because Bane is better doesn't mean Green stinks. He's a solid player that showed some good things this year. I'm happy with that and hope he can continue to improve.

Can we stop with this Josh Green BS guys? Dude is improving each year and is still super young on a very comfortable contract. He's going to be an incredible role player, you can't ask for more.

Also, Mavs never even targeted Bane, so i don't know where this constact discussion is even coming from. We know this organization has made some horrible decisions in the past few years but at least Green and Hardy are starting to look promising.

Who drafted Green? It wasn't Nelson, it was that Game Of Thrones guy who was later fired.

Mavs screwed up a lot of picks, criticizing Green after this season is just ridiculous

It will end like the Markaneen/Maxi or Doncic/Bagley discussions with a lot of general hilarity

Probably it's me but i must have missed the moment when the discussion changed from "i don't trade Maxi for Markaneen" to "Markaneen can carry a lottery team to PO"

Green improved a great deal and with him being so athletic and decent on defense he is definitely going to be a keeper now and will possibly start next season.

Green has the right attitude on the court.

But he is not a smart player with below average basketball IQ.

Trade him while he has some good value. I won't be surprised if he is going to be a filler for a major roster upgrade.

Exactly, he is the deifnition of a JAG, just a guy. Nothing special or even above average about him.
