Because Marion bulldozed into a stationary Gasol. Pretty easy call.

I can't believe DIRK only played 11 minutes in the first half. Should have just sat him out.

The only good thing is that we're only down 10, we don't look like a playoff team atm. I hope Cuban realizes by now that he needs to add top talent to this team.

I feel like I'm hearing this every year shortly before the trade deadline. I guess we just never managed to acquire actual top talent.

I don't even have to score
I just make the game better,

That is because Cuban has been too quick to slap the "untouchable" label on average players.
Our current status is telling so much but I doubt if the right people are paying any attention.

Some of us have been aware of this for years...just hope it isn't too late now.

Just after the Mavs lost for a fifth consecutive time Saturday to the Memphis Grizzlies, Cuban took to his Twitter account and sent a message to his 295,051 followers:

"hang in there Mavs fans, we WILL get it back on track. A lot of time to go..."
A lot of time to go? The TDL is in a month and we go nowhere with this team as constructed. Are we even better than Cleveland without Dirk and Butler?

If Cuban doesn't move Butler's expiring before TDL for someone near the same quality, he is completely insane if he thinks this team is even close to being good enough to beat teams like the Lakers, Spurs, Celtics, etc...

my gut feeling is cuban and the mavs will stand pat on the trade deadline.

the past couple of seasons have been good for cuban in terms of maturity. the all out spending days are of the past. the gutsy maverick that he once was has now turned into a smart spender. it seems that his priorities have changed. the number goal of winning at all costs has toned down a bit and has changed into filling seats at the arena. and so far so good. 8-)

I think Butler is a thousand times more important than any of us gave him credit for.
I have gotten spoiled from Mavs basketball over the last decade. This stretch brings back bad memories of the 90's. I hope Mark Cuban is paying attention to what his team looks like and becomes very proactive with overhauling the roster and making everyone available short of Dirk.

This early season success at this point appears to be fools gold.

I really doubt Butler was this player putting us over the top. It's all speculation now with his injury but lot of fans (also around the league) try to tell us how much we miss Butler suddenly. Just two months ago the same people told us Butler is essentially done and on the brink of senility[/green].

Truth is Butler was somewhere in between, certainly not the difference maker but a fine player.

If anything this losing streak has shown us what some players are made off. Terry is completely unreliable. The only players who stepped up were Stevenson and Chandler IMO. We still need a difference maker and a winning streak didn't fool anyone here into believing we had "it".

It's been evident all season long and before the season started that this team lacks what it takes to make a serious playoff run. The one player that many Maverick fans wanted us to move is Haywood, but he's not the big problem on the team, and Cuban has stuck us with a bunch of garbage. I praise Cuban for providing us with depth at the 5, but issues still needed to be resolved, and he just ignored them.

One person on this board who's been MIA thinks Caron Butler is a top 5 small forward. A win streak tends to make some fans become more delusional and not see the clear problems on the team. Caron Butler is a role player on most teams, but Cuban seemed to believe he could be our second option.

Wait....Cuban has less than 300K followers?

Once again I agree with you.
How good were the Lakers when Butler was in his prime with Kobe in his prime? 5-8 seed at best.
How good were the Heat when Butler played with Wade? Barely a PO team in the east.

With the exception of several Mavs fans on this board, most people would consider Kobe and Wade better than Dirk.

The only part that I don't agree is that Cuban has surrounded Dirk with Garbage. Cuban has done a wonderful job of getting average role players around Dirk. The problem is that Cuban overrates all of his role players and considers many of them to be #2 caliber. I honestly think Cuban believes that he has several #2s on this team (Terry, Roddy, and Butler). That alone may keep him from making any type of move going forward and should concern the hell out of any non-biased Mavs fan.
