Game 41 January 19, 2011: Mavs Vs. Lakers

I just hope the front office doesn't keep harking back to this game when they try to decide if a move needs to be made. Yes they played great tonight but you arent going to get this kind of production from Kidd and Marion often. JET was the JET of old but he has shown this year that he's about 2/3 of what he was tonight. A major move may not be needed but something does have to happen.

Anyone believe we would have one this game is either of the Jason's played their average game?

It took both of them and Marion all to score 65 pts, 18 asts (2 to) to win. I'll take it. Boh those 3 need to play at this level more often.

Exactly, though it's more about their efficiency scoring than anything. Pavlovic, Marion, Kidd, and JET were a combined (ridiculous) 32-47 from the floor (68%). And yes, Dirk was only 5-15 and Stevenson 0-5, but there's still a lot of question as to what Stevenson's "average" game is. Dirk could've hit all 15 shots, and the other guys I mentioned miss 10 of their shots, and they still would've shot above their combined season averages.

Top that off with the fact that we turned it over 6 times in the entire game, and I think you'd say the Mavs played a near-perfect game (at least the role players did). That's what it takes for this team to win consistently against elite teams. Call me skeptical if I don't think it can continue.

Great win, though. And the team showed enough heart that you can reasonably assume they're not dead if they make a trade or two.

I get what you're saying but that was really far from a perfect game. Pau shredded Dirk, and we played awful defense in general. I think it was clear that Chandler and Dirk weren't 100%. Chandler's endurance was down, and Dirk was visibly getting no lift on his jump and it led to him getting blocked twice.

Marion and Kidd played solid defense in the final stretch, it was Odom that was killing us. Our frontcourt has to be the anchor of our defense, and last night it wasn't able. We got solid offensive output from Pavlovic, he was a little weak defensively, but it's not like Artest lit us up.

I'm just glad that Mavs found a way to prove me wrong and gut out a victory!!!! But, I still think thisis just 1 little regular season victory that FO should not over-gratify in.
