Carlisle definitely has some bad traits but I think the good by far outweigh the bad and
there aren’t many guys out there I’d rather have coach my team than him. Brunsons game works better alongside Doncic than Smith’s does so it makes sense for Dallas to go with Brunson moving forward and get the best package possible of player(s) for Smith... something tells me DSJ probably wouldn’t be happy about coming off the bench behind a rookie 2nd round pick

Yea I'd balk at it if we had to take back one of their many terirble deals, TJ, Waiters, James Johnson, WHiteside, man they made some stupid deals there. But just figured, with WInslow now showing to eb what they had hoped, maybe they'd be more willing to make a trade for a PG, and they'd still have Magruder, Derrick, Ellington, and stuck with Waiters. I can see them not willign to want to give up Rich for DSJ, but given the age difference and potential upside, I dont know if its very far fetched.

Winslow is slotted at PG now which he has played well in.. plus they have Dragic there and he is a better distributor than Smith so I just don’t see much of a deal to be made with Miami. Orlando is by far the best team to make a deal with, in my opinion...

The trade will probably be Dennis for Bamba as they both sat out the past three games. I figure the teams are just negotiating the secondary pieces of the deal at this point.

I could see that because Dallas was high on Bamba and Orlando has a surplus of bigs.

No is not. Bamba is bot part of the deal. He is practicing with the team and will be ready to go for the game. He will sit out likely but will be available.
The trade is Simmons and 2019 orlando first for DSJ or simmons and fournier for DSJ and Matthews.
Orlando is not trading any of the BIG.

Simmons and a mid-late 1st isn’t going to be enough for Orlando to get SmithJr.

Dallas would be adding additional assets to any deal but a deal isn’t getting done at all without one of Gordon, Issac, Vucevic or Bamba headed towards Dallas.

Mike Fisher tweeted that DSJ and Wes are absent from practice and that Kostas is at the Mavs practice facility. Seems like a 2 for 1 deal may be happening soon :)

DAntoni can make Harden and Paul work together in Houston. Dallas needs to find a creative offensive coach that can run an offense with two ball handlers.
No free agents want to play in Dallas because of Carlisle unless it’s their last resort.

Are you sure it’s Carlisle and not the burden of being the only star other than a 36-41 year old Nowitzki??

Maybe, maybe not. But if my coach and my young star can’t co exist I’m going to consider a coaching change also. It’s too soon to give up on Dennis but we’ve had a good sample size to know the positives and negatives of coach Carlisle. At some point the negatives can no longer be overlooked.
Dsj is not a star. Maybe one day but he could just as easily end up a sixth man. I know Rick hasn't liked to give rookies much minutes in the past but that has changed and also none of the previous rooks were worthy of those minutes. You gotta earn the minutes not have them handed to you.

Wesley + DSJ combined is a hefty contract. And if it's a two for one deal, we probably are looking at the following:

With Orlando - Most likely Aaron Gordon

With Phoenix - Most likely Ryan Anderson + 2019 pick (most likely Top 3)

Aaron Gordon seems to make a lot of sense. I’ll pack Wesley’s bags to get him out of here

Detroit Fan here what would you all envision DSJ to Detroit bringing you back? Curious more than anything

Smith and Deandre for Drummond and Kennard would be fine with me

This trade makes me really uneasy. But from what we read from Mavs insiders, there is no chance DSJ is coming back now. Apparently DSJ camp is angry at the way Rick is treating him. So he is basically gone.

Please no Bamba. The only thing he has is hos wingspan. He has no bbal IQ. I would like to se AG or Isaac in return.

When it comes to Isaac for DSJ I think this would be great for both players. DSJ would get what he wants and him and AG would be a great combo for the future. As for Isaac, I think he would look great next to Luka. It's a win win for both players IMO

I don’t think a Bamba trade makes much sense. Deandre and Kleber have played great so there’s no need to make that trade. Aaron Gordon or Jonathan Isaac + Fournier or Ross for Smith, Matthews, etc fills way more short term and long term needs for both teams

If i was Mavs and AG is offered, i would grab it and run like hell. AG is much improved Powell and we can all see how good Luka and Powell work together. Plus AG can do a lot more as i said. I think that would have been the best scenario for the Mavs.

No way should we waste money on Fournier. The guy is completely inept on D, all he is a glorified shooter, and even that he's barely above average lvl, the guy makes too much for too long to be worth taking on

Starters with Matthews: 350 minutes, -8 points per 100 possessions

Starters with Finney-Smith instead of Matthews: 132 minutes, +6 points per 100 possessions

Starters with Kleber instead of Matthews: 53 minutes, +6 points per 100 possessions

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/smithde03/lineups/2019

Yet not even once did they not start Matthews when he was healthy. And now we're here, trying to publicly negotiate this thing after the first reports have been leaked weeks ago. Carlisle should get fired for this Imo. His veterans-first dogma is impossible to overlook in this case and it just fired back badly.

I truly believe that if/when Matthews gets traded away, we will be winning games far more frequently regardless of who gets brought in. Addition by subtraction
