Re: Free Agency
Were thinking that it would be a bunch of signings and stuff by this time, but seems nba is still dead. Maybe the FAs want to get payed but the franchises is holding onto their money for next year

I wish they could unload Wright and junk for Thaddeus Young somehow.

That would mean no more significant additions. I think RC and Donnie were both very clear that we're "nowhere near done". Hopefully this will look better than that in a few weeks.
Well 3/5 should be set. I think we need DFS's defense and THJ's ability to spread the floor. Yea we can upgrade either potentially, but with who? THJ is not the same player when he's on the bench for whatever reason, and J-Rich can't be the only reliable defender in the SL.

Well you have to factor in does it make sense to pay Young 14 mil the last year to play, or pay him 6 mil to go away, vs paying Wright 7 mil to be on the roster?
If Thad is coming, Powell has to go in some way.

Agreed, I think Luka, KP and JRich are clear. I hope we can upgrade the other 2 spots especially the PF position. I see THJ ideally as a 6th man.

FA doesn't start until 5:00 CST today. No one gets signed until then.

What types of moves are you hoping for? WHo would you like to see start with Luka/JRich/KP?

Re: Free Agency
A sleeper free agent right now is Davis Bertans. KP's fellow Latvian. good candidate for a starting PF at 6'10. Being flanked by defensive players (RIchardson and KP) allows him to play PF here. Shooting 42% from three. If he's good enough for Pop's system, he would be good enough here as well.
Washington lacks bigs. They only have Thomas Bryant. Ian Mahinmi is a free agent. Maybe we S&T Dwight Powell + a pick
If there's one connection to exploit right now that wouldnt be considered tampering, it's this one. I hope KP has been giving him recruitment calls.

Re: Free Agency
Bertans and Gallinaro are the same issue. Unless we can configure and sign-and-trade, I'm not sure how they can be a Maverick. It's easier for me to understand Gallo since OKC is trying to blow it up and is so willing to move pieces. I'm not sure the same is true for the Wizards. Having said that, Bertans would make us a monster on offense. He doesn't rebound, but Gallinaro is not much help there either. You would need to surround them with defensive help.

This is just my opinion with no news to back it up. But I think Washington would be inclined to let Bertans go in a S&T. They're thin at C but are developing two forwards they drafted in back to back years. Rui Hachimura and Deni Avidja.

Re: Free Agency
If they could find a way, I'd do it. Maxi would likely be the one going out I would think.

I'd like to have Davis Bertans and and basically anybody that helps improve our team. I don't care for majority of the players we have so I hope something gets done. We need to improve on both sides of the ball.daoneandonly wrote:HMFFL wrote:In a few hours things will be active but I hope our management makes some headlines.

Bogdan, Gallo or Bertans SnT would be awesome. Also someone like Tristan Thomas or Whiteside.

Defense wins titles guys. Bertans and Gallo would do more harm than good

Well then be prepared to be disappointed, because they are certainly interested in Gallinaro. I don't think those are just rumors. They may be interested in Bogdan now as well.
Now pulling off a S&T is a difficult thing to do, but I feel certain the Mavs will take an elite perimeter shooter with average defense if they can space the floor. Hey I'd like to have a real defensive player who could do both, but I don't see one out there in free agency.

While I generally do agree we're clearly lacking a third offensive player who can create their own shot and for the team when Luka and/or KP sit or are out.

I don’t think they would harm our chances, but I would much rather pursue Aaron Gordon or Christian Wood. I think the cost for all 4 via trade is relatively the same

Re: Free Agency
Dragic resigned w Miami
Facundo Campazzo signs with Nuggets (expected). Mavs may have scrapped their interest.
Wesley Matthews to the Lakers.
Detroit is apparently not signing Christian Wood so.... I guess he's on the market
Derrick Favors signs with Jazz
