I'd be really interested in what he could fetch back in a sign and trade type of deal now that Dinwiddie is on board here... Would love for Joker to try to force his way to the Mavs this offseason and Brunson or Dinwiddie helps to headline a package going back to Denver (All the 1sts, Any 2 players not named Luka, + the right salary match)

Its not typically a European mentality to flex leverage against the team like that though

Jokic is a viable target given the relationship between him and Luka. People have to keep in mind that Jokic is literally the least marketable NBA league MVP of all time. No shoe deal. Not much promotional material going around. And the guy is league MVP. Zion landed a Jordan shoe deal and probably has only played 2 weeks in total. Nico can help with all those off court stuff, Luka can help with the in court stuff. And his agent Jeff Schwartz can at least guarantee Cuban a meeting.

I think the only way the Mavs could sign and trade Brunson is if he wanted to go to a specific team and that team did not have cap space. He’s UFA so he could just say I want to go to Detroit who has the cap space to sign him outright.

True. If Brunson wants to go to New York and they really want him, I'd sign and trade him for Alec Burks and Mitchell Robinson. Burks is another 3&D guard with playmaking.

C - Robinson / Powell / Boban
PF- DFS / Bertans / Kleber
SF- Bullock / Green
SG- Doncic / THJ
PG- Dinwiddie / Burks / Ntlikina

Mavs probably won't play the Clippers in the first round this year. They'll likely get the Jazz, Nuggets, or TWolves. I believe Brunson has been fine against all of those teams.

And now that the Mavs have Dinwiddie, they can split Brunson's minutes against teams that play Brunson well. But Brunson has played well against A LOT of teams this year.

And a lot of teams had big problems in this Covid year. Playoffs is something totally different. Now teams are prepared mostly for Luka in playoffs they will be prepared for Brunson too. It will be interesting test for Brunson, first time being in position as teams second best player. I hope he will deliver, if he doesn't, my guess is that his value will be hit at least a little.

Honestly, Brunson's done this before, just that the team rarely ever started him and/or gave him 30+ minutes per night. They were always so hesitant due to his size and defense, but he was clearly better than guys like DSJ, Burke, Courtney Lee, etc..

Solid team. Mavs should then look into acquiring John Collins, Siakam, or Myles Turner. If they go with Turner, they might be able to swap THJ for Hield too.

So, Powell, THJ, Expirings, 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, and cash for Myles Turner and Hield.

To me, he's worth the same contract that DFS was given.

I'd match up to 20 mil just to keep talent but would definitely feel waaaay less comfortable with it. I just wish he was a RFA instead of UFA because it makes contract negotiations so much riskier. Mavs previous FO really messed up with that one.

Brunson already turns down this offer from the Mavs.

Don't hold your breath. Hardaway is not worth the contract. How do you believe Brunson will take a half.

Does Brunson really move that slow? Dinwiddie looks to move quicker and more fluid despite being 5 inches taller than Brunson. Just an observation.

Size and D might be a problem, if you give someone 100 millions. In the end only playoffs matter. D and referring criteria is different there.

Yes. He's in many ways little Luka. He breaks players with fakes, hesitation, looking for contact...That's why I'm sceptical how he will look in playoffs, when they will put on him bigger players. He doesn't like to shoot for 3, what limits his game furthermore.

He overcomes that with the rest of his game though, and he's gotten much better on defense thanks to Kidd.

He's kinda slow, but I'd argue he's more fluid than Dinwiddie. Some guys control the pace of play, even though they're slow. Brunson's a fine example of that.

Finally a fine interview by Cuban, he said the right things and he didn't shoot bull.

Next year he has to pay and he knows this.

Possibly the Mavs gives Brunson the amount if the Mavs face LAC again and Brunson does not disappoint this team. The improvement of Brunson last two seasons are impressive. But Brunson still struggle against LAC this season.

As Dwiddle does not sound like a starting guard, I think the Mavs will re-sign Brunson before the playoff. Brunson, this season, just struggles against Reggie Jackson and DeAndre Fox. I really don't understand why. But surely, good enough compared with Barnes, Parsons, Hardaway and so on. I don't like the KP trade at all. The Mavs get lesser players and pay a pick. Both Dwiddle and Bertans can't play any defense, it seems.
