I'm a bit scared of Naji and Grimes. Both 2 points on 1/6 shooting, but more scary the type of shots they're taking.

The Maxi & Lively frontcourt at the same time was a monster defensively in this game. Spurs players had a really hard time finishing when both were on the court.

Luka was rusty but really caught fire in the 2nd half.

Klay was awesome. Hell of a debut for him.

Hardy surprisingly was one of our biggest minute getters from the bench and he took advantage of it.

Grimes and Naji were disappointing offensively but their effort on D was good. Both of them obviously still need an adjustment period to Luka ball.

Lively outplaying Wemby AGAIN was also awesome. Our boy just owns Wemby at this point.

Klay was excellent!!! Was really great to see. We might have lost this game without him.

Hardy looked good off the bench.

Lively looked good, as expected.

Luka looked rusty in the first half. Still ended up with 28/10/8 on an inefficient shooting night.
The shots started falling as the game wore on. Had a ridiculous highlight reel pass.

A cool moment after Luka dished to a wide open Klay, then immediately starts walking to the other end of the court gesturing the shot was going down.

1-0 A double digit win!

Looking forward to @Phoenix Saturday!

One poster, who is constantly wrong on these forums, even suggested Mavs need to bring one or two more guys just to counter Wemby and trade Gafford in return. I gave him stats how Lively plays vs him, but he still didn't get it. And we got another example tonight.

Klay shot an airball. You must have not watched the game live.

No, he's not, he's allowed a different opinion.
I only watched the highlights, box score looks weird, but good to start the season on the right foot.

I would say that the most important aspect of first game was Klay's performance and he delivered.

Nobody is scared for Luka and Kyrie, even when they can't hit anything. Preseason was just nonexistent, they will need few games.

Second most encouraging thing were Hardy and Kleber, both played very well. Giving Hardy extension, and not Grimes, looks pretty good.

C line was good like it's more or less every night. What an improvement over Powell.

The only thing still in the air are Grimes and Naji, we need one of them having season similar than DJJ last year. If that happens and Mavs have normal luck with injuries, Mavs should be top 2 team in the West.

I don't like how Grimes is playing, he's doing things he's not capable of and more importantly things Mavs don't need in offensive side. He's lucky that Exum is not playing, otherwise he would end on bench wery early.

Against a good team they would've been down 20 in the 1st half, but they were rusty, how the team looked on offense to start the 3rd and start the 4th is scary, and the gain would vastly exceed the loss on defense with DJJ leaving.
Maxi looked amazing, 15 MPG of this Maxi would be great...
Hardy looked very good.

That Klay guy can shoot.

Rough start but nice second half, even Maxi looked good.
Great game by Hardy. OMG.

Wemba taked 10 3s. Thank you Pop, huge game plan.

Wemby should stop talking about how he will be the best ever, trying to play like KD and instead focus on things he can do better than anyone else. Hype is getting in his head too much at the moment. He's 7'4 but all his shots were difficult ones and he's ball handling too much, he looks to me like he's on competition show what you can do.

I really don't understand his game, he seems to be allergic to the areas where he is the most unstoppable and instead wants to play SG. Every time I see him play I find him underwhelming compared to the hype that surrounds him.

Great and encouraging game from the Mavs minus the ice cold first half shooting.

Luka and Klay played 26 minutes together, + 27 netrtg, although Luka didn't have the best shooting night. It looks to me that Luka has found new favourite toy. :D

Great win. They started off shaky, but expected. Klay played very well. There's going to be nights where he does look a bit washed, but then countered by nights like this.

It will take some time for Naji and Grimes to get integrated, so cant be too critical of them. Though I am higher on Naji than Quinton.

The only real change I think Kidd should implement is starting Lively. Gaff has been great, but Lively just brings more to the table and is the future.
