I'd like to thank ahonui06 for his work in the game thread tonight. It was fun to participate in a Mav Playoff Win game thread.

A few observations....

(1) I'm not at all comfortable with a 2-0 lead for the same reasons JES is concerned. It's not a series until somebody wins on the road, and the Mavs need to put this thing away in Game 3.

(2) It's funny that a couple of guys a lot of people here didn't even want have stepped up big time in this series so far: Kidd and Peja. And if Rick Carlisle is responsible for resting Kidd those few games late in the regular season, you could say that decision is winning this series for us right now. Ironic.

(3) This thought has bubbled up, too: we're up 2-0 without Roddy, and it was when Roddy returned to the lineup that we started going downhill at the end of the regular season. I'm not knocking Roddy at all, but I'm really wondering if his presence actually did mess with the chemistry a little bit. I don't think it's his fault, but it makes some sense.

Onward and upward!

Peja Stojakovic was huge tonight. 5-10 with the 3.

Dirk has needed a pure shooter with him on the floor, we have that with Peja, and Portland did a terrible job defending him. I hope RC is prepared to make the adjustments that are needed if he thinks he can play Stojakovic 20+ minutes in game three.

My third quarter theory did not hold, but the mavs did not lose it in the in the third. Dirk and Peja were so huge, especially Dirk. On to Portland and a split.

I dont think Stevenson@SG is a success for Mavs. Comapre Mavs 1-3rdQ to 2-4thQ.

I think that startingline up is as poor as with Roddy.

Elbow to the face is an obvious call. If you're just here to complain about officiating that doesn't favor us at all (awkward calls throughout the game - especially in the first half) I suggest you go back to your board. ty

LOL, fair enough, I am just bitter. That wasn't a terribly reffed game. Missed FT's and poor defensive rotations the biggest problem for the Blazers. But, just know that the guy who always screws the Mavs reffed a fair game... what does that mean for all the guys who normally ref the games fairly? Good games in Dallas, we'll see you guys in Portland.

On that play specifically, it just looked like Barea got hit in the face because his face is at Wesley's shoulder level. Not sure how you're supposed to back him down...

Overall the refs were fine, though. Just like the rest of the season, we can't close out for ****.

Great win for the Mavs hopefully they will continue to play this way mainly Kidd.

2 things that concern me though is Terry just being pathetic at times and Haywood having no clue on how to hit a free throw other than those 2 things looking good.

I'd like to apologize for the Portland fans who came over to your forum and simply stirred the pot rather than engaging in good, fun conversation. I fully support your forum Mod's with any decisions they make with regards to those posts. Dallas did what they had to do to get the win and some people just have a hard time dealing with that. It's no excuse to come into your home and stir up trouble. As some of you noticed, the Portland Forum Mod's won't allow trolling and will warn someone if they try, but we appreciate good, fun banter and would encourage you to swing on by.

Good luck in Games 3 & 4 cuz I think you're gonna need it. It's gonna be a struggle for Portland to pull out 4 wins in the next 5 games, but I'm not willing to bet against em. I think Portland takes both games cuz they're at home and will have the Rose Garden rocking!!! If that happens, anything is possible. If Dallas manages to steal one of the games, then the series is over. It's still early though, anything can AND will happen. WooT!!!

It might happen. We will still know he's a winner, and it wasn't his fault. He never had a true all-star player in his prime as his teammate. Forget another superstar... Another legit all-star, who at least makes it in every other year. He doesn't even had that. Every other go to guy had that guy, some even more than one. He had good teams, he has a good team now, a very good team. But it might be not enough, and if it is not enough, it sure won't be his fault.

Yeah....

I don't understand how a player can be so futile at free throws.

Doesn't he practice?

Terry does hurt the team.

For the next two games, I want to see less of him.

Brewer needs some more minutes for defensive purposes....

One of the main reasons why Portland is down is that the backcourt has been relatively quiet (unlike the regular season). That may change.

Heard about it. TC did not look too happy. What nuts on that kid to steal the towel.
