I’m not a Mavericks fan but it makes me sick really. I don’t think I’ll really ever be able to swallow how awful this is. Doing something so damaging will have a lasting impact on my respect for the product that is the NBA and leave my chronically feeling like I have a bad taste in my mouth.

I hope there is major backlash against this.

This is something that would probably be leaked after a decade when all is said and done. Definitely not the type of news where everything gets unraveled the next week or so. Time will tell if there were some strings pulled behind the scenes to favor some side.

So what?
That's called passion - the feeling of being alive. There's nothing wrong with that. We also have other hobbies in life that we enjoy, spend our time on, and sometimes even money for, and so what?
The worst are actually those who complain over the internet about complaining, so stop acting like you're any better.

If Dallas wins one in the next 2 or 3 years (which they wont), i still think the trade was worth it. Objectively speaking.

I didnt say it was wrong. If you read my post I said I found it amusing. I'm free to feel that way and you are free to feel a certain way. Carry on. Nothing to see here.

just malpractice every way you spin it, if not league wide collusion. i feel bad for Mavs fans but I also feel bad for NBA fans in general.
This is indeed bad for any real fans of the NBA. It's hard for me to imagine what it must be like for Mav's fans.

Your management should be tarred and feathered.

Snakey GM with a trade that should have been put on hold by the league until the Adelson family was consulted. The return isn't enough obviously and this is obviously going to harm the franchise value.

Support you guys bailing on the league or your teams merch etc. This was so bad and embarrassing as an outsider.

Nets fan (KG/PP trade), CLippers fans (PG13 for SGA/picks) you can find comfort in knowing your team didnt do the worst trade in NBA history. Mine did.

I am as upset with Luka on his conditioning as probably any Mav fan, but this trade is nonsensical. Nico Harrison is an idiot. One pick and a broken-down AD for Luka Doncic? Look at some of the trade just in the last 3-4 years, and this is the return for a perrenial all NBA player?

I was born and raised in Maryland but liked the Mavs since 1990 since I wanted to go all things Dallas. I am very much considering just becoming a fan of the hometown Wizards now, thats how bad this trade is

This goes beyond the NBA....its the worst trade in sports history.

I genuinely mean it when I say I am done with the NBA.

I don’t care how anybody tries to spin this. Nobody would take a top 3 trade value guy in the league and only offer him to one team, mid season, with no warning, and trade him for what every single person knows is WAY WAY below his market value. And all that a few months after going to the finals.

This isn’t just a dumb move. It’s entirely illogical and doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

There is 100% external factors at play here. Whether that’s the league putting pressure on, owners deliberately trying to tank a franchise, or someone calling in a very dodgy favour.

If it looks like bull and stinks like bull, it’s most probably bull.

I’ll say it again.

Dirk wrote:Luka may be fat or whatever and all those things.

But this trade legitimately needs to vetoed. It's just ridiculous since the trade value is much higher than this.

"Fine" to trade Luka. But at least get a return that "justifies" it. This is just surreal... and nonsensical.

If a player like Mikal Bridges brings 5 FRP some unprotected and 1 FRP swap , I would imagine younger Luka brings more than that

Same amount of picks at least and 2 or 3 young prospects at a minimum

This trade doesn’t make any sense, not for now even more so for the future , I genuinely feel sorry for Mavs fans

That’s the most lopsided trade I ever saw during last 30 years watching the NBA

And why the freakin Lakers of all teams?
A team that had no trade assets that came close to matching Luka's market value.

The only thing that makes sense is Nico having benefits coming from the Lakers in some form.

Yep....me too.
My interest in the NBA will be like many baseball fans interest in MLB after 1994.
The integrity of the league will diminish.

From Mike Curtis.

Naji Marshall just told me he hasn’t spoken directly to Luka Doncic yet, but he said the former Mavs superstar texted the team’s group chat & said: “Thanks for everything.”

Marshall: “I was surprised like everyone else. Very good dude. Good teammate. I look forward to playing him again.”

Asked Jason Kidd about Kyrie Irving's reaction to the Luka Doncic trade:

"I think he's shocked, but understand he's been in this league & has seen different things, so understanding we have to push forward. He probably saw things differently & I'm speaking from my point of view. At some point, you guys will ask him the questions & I know he'll give you guys the answers that you're looking for."

Traded Luka for Anthony Day-to-Davis. WTF is wrong with those people??

Classy farewell by Luka. He will be missed.

Can't say the same about Nico. The guy just burned all the good cred we have been building up the past few years by trading the franchise player the way he did. You do NOT blindside your franchise player the way he did.

3) why now? You could get way more in the offseason. CLE would have given you Mobley, a younger, cheaper and healthier version of AD
4) why insult Luka with the "defense" comments on his way out the door? That sounds petty, makes the whole trade look like a spiteful move.
5) whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

The Cavs are not giving up Mobley for Luka. We have no frontline depth and have ball-dominance in Garland and Mitchell. Stop. Absurd.
