Sorry Mavs fans. We all know the NBA was corrupt to some degree. But even then for something like this to happen and of course involving the Lakers and an aging Lebron gaining an unfair advantage truly makes it that more sickening.

Lebron could win 10 championships in a row now, and he'll still never surpass Jordan.

Sorry, Mavs fans. This needs to be investigated, honestly. To not even get the Lakers' best offer is shady as hell.

I don’t care how anybody tries to spin this. Nobody would take a top 3 trade value guy in the league and only offer him to one team, mid season, with no warning, and trade him for what every single person knows is WAY WAY below his market value. And all that a few months after going to the finals.

This isn’t just a dumb move. It’s entirely illogical and doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

There is 100% external factors at play here. Whether that’s the league putting pressure on, owners deliberately trying to tank a franchise, or someone calling in a very dodgy favour.

If it looks like bull and stinks like bull, it’s most probably bull.

I’ll say it again.

**** the Mavs
**** the Lakers
**** the NBA.

The NBA and the Mavs don’t get a penny of my money again

yea, this doesn't pass the smell test at all. Luka Doncic for an (old) 32 year Anthony Davis and a 2029 first round pick that with Luka Doncic on the Lakers now will be guaranteed to be a low 1st?

you don't even *try* to have a bidding war? what if Cleveland came to you gave you Evan Mobley + 4 firsts? What if the Magic offered Paolo + 4 firsts? What if Houston offered Bari and Amen and firsts?

this is so absurd that it's hard to chalk it up to anything other than collusion tbh.

Sorry Mavs fans, I truly am. I'm a Pacer fan first, but when Carlyle first went to you guys, I've been following the Mavs ever since. Was so happy when you guys beat the Heat for the title. I've been a big Luka fan. Luka is actually whom you pay a supermax deal to, even if he's a little fat. His fat @ss dragged you to the finals.

He's that dude. 28, 8, 8, average for his career and only 25. Took his team to the finals at 25. This is a gut punch
for an outside type fan like me. It's gotta kill the die hard Mavs fans. How do you recover from this. I have zero confidence in Day to Day Davis.

I don't get it. There has to be some behind the scenes f****ery going on. How could any GM not check with the 29 other teams. It's criminal malpractice. The new owners and the GM need to investigated, then tarred and feathered.

Doncic would command maximum amount of FRP. But also Davis.
All star traded for all star
Many underrate Davis. He is proven winner with ring, Luka yet to be ( He might end up Harden 2.0, we will know in future).

Also Davis is rare of a kind. I think there is just Jokic/Embiid/Wembenyama/Davis as top big men. Then quality drops.
Whereass with guards, you will find many good.

I feel for Mavs fans. This was a terrible trade that makes all the NBA is rigged talk sound very real. As a Hawks and Twolf fan, you have my sympathy.

I didn't know I had so much emotional involvement in sports anymore till Luka got traded. This feels like a friend died.

There has to be something hidden under the table. Please. I need this for my inner self to process it. There is to be a real shady reason

What are you attacking posters for? Everybody has pretty much the same sentiment about the deal.

More I read about it more angry I'm. Nico's reasoning goes like that, we want to win now, that's why we're trading 25 years old superstar, who's averaging 31/9/8 in playoffs. Only behind MJ in scoring in the history of Nba. Wtf?

Luka might not be always 100% in RS, but he played exceptionally well in more or less all playoffs games. His on/off in playoffs is + 10. His half court game is made for playoffs, he's top2 half court player. But somehow GM thinks he's the problem?

i also feel it is a little too arrogant to negotiate a deal with this caliber completely alone.
Why didn't he even talk to Luka before it went out. Show some respect man...

The only reason why he kept it quiet is because he knew it would be impossible to justify trade to Lakers, if other teams were involved. Keeping it quiet for sure didn't help Mavs getting the best offer. On the other hand I understand why Pelinka was quiet. It was his best interest, I'm sure he couldn't believe his luck.

Can you imagine? Pelinka thought Nico was legit trolling him that's how bad this deal or "return" was from Mavs perspective

Everything about this deal is like Nico is just trolling.

1. Reasoning about Luka's conditioning and injury concern and you trade for 32 years old player made of glass. Wtf?

2. Saying you want win now and then trade probably the best playoffs performer in Nba at the moment. Wtf?

3. Not saying anything to Luka, which is totally disrespectful to your franchise player and show your organisation as not trustworthy, which for sure will have some implications for future deals. Who will trust you, if you have 0 respect to your franchise player?

4. Press conference. What a **** show, Nico giggling like a little girl, explaining how he basically traded Luka in coffee shop and looking totally off all around. Wtf?

Translated from Slovenian media:

Saša Dončić: Luka has always respected Dallas, so he didn't deserve this hypocrisy.

"Look, personally, I understand the philosophy or thinking of the decision makers that a certain individual doesn't fit in, or that, in their opinion, he doesn't integrate into their team. Up until here, everything is fine and fair, but what really hurt me was the fact that they carried it out in a very hypocritical manner. Supported by numerous attempts at cheap excuses related to Luka's supposed poor physical condition. Luka certainly didn't deserve this, as from the very first moment he wore the Dallas jersey, he respected this club and this city," said former basketball player and now basketball commentator Saša Dončić to Arenasport.

"When these gentlemen, I apologize, this gentleman (Nico Harrison, editor's note) tries to justify his actions with ridiculous excuses about Luka's weight, it all seems very far-fetched. Believe me, I would never want to have a summer like Luka's, where he spends on average four hours a day in the gym. While I enjoy the beach, Luka is doing countless workouts to prepare as best as he can for the season. That's what professionalism is", Luka's father continued, and in conclusion, spoke about the new team of the 25-year-old superstar.

"There's no need to waste words on the Lakers. It's one of the most prestigious NBA franchises with 17 championship titles. In the end, we know that the three most recognized franchises are the Boston Celtics, the aforementioned Lakers, and the New York Knicks. Luka hasn't lost anything with this decision, as he's going to a phenomenal city with an incredibly rich basketball tradition.

He accepts that trading players is part of the business. It seems the only thing that bothers him is Nico's excuse about conditioning as the reason he was sent away.
