Need some eugene or moses to make it more annoying for denver to score in the paint. Thats one of the biggest issues atm, not counting another poor shooting night

Without Boban, the Mavs is outmuscled in paint. And this results in a lot of offensive boards and wide-opened corner 3s guarded by Luka. That's not a recipe to success against a team with Jokic, Gordon and Porter up front. While the Mavs is quick in general, the Mavs frontcourt is skinny in general except Boban. So the Mavs has to rely on Luka and DFS to guard the paint. It is fine. But somebody has to show up to make stops and protect the board.

That's mostly on the roster construct. One possibility could be playing Eugene and Ntilkina a lot more.

But the Mavs in general is not on target even if a little rooms created. All shooters must stay ready to shoot. That's the only possibility to shift the rhythm and run some breaks and get some transition bucket. The Mavs should control the tempo to win. Adjustment is required.

Everyone is playing bad so far today except Maxi.

Powell needs to sit. If you watch the game, it is so obvious that he messes up the spacing so much. DFS and THJ so far have been terrible as well. Both chucking bad shots and missing the easy ones.

Gotta shoot better or this gonna be a long night.

Bullock has been by far the worst starter tonight. Luka would have about 7 assists if he’s hit his shots. He finally got one to go when they went on that 7-0 run but he’s been really bad tonight.

Ok, then Luka is the 2nd or 3rd worst starter tonight if that makes you happy. He needs to play better considering he's our super max player.

Why wouldn't you blame them for coming out flat every game? Powell is just one player.

DFS is now 0/5, THJ 1/7, Luka 2/8, Bullock missed his three 3s. DFS and THJ both have 2 TOs.

While Powell shouldn't start, he isn't the only problem.

If the order is to feed powell constantly and he keeps missing everything, the issue is him. I dont like myself for saying this, but a season ending injury for powell seems to give mavs atleast 5 more wins then if we gonna keep trying to get his tradevalue up by feeding him everything

He's 2/4 including a 3pter. They don't feed them that much and feeding Powell shouldn't make the other 4 starters miss all their shots. The other 4 guys have been missing more shots in this game.

Now, of course, he should still sit.

Lol Kid coming up with a change in the starting lineup and it's not Powell. :D

It did... for the worst.

Doncic passing to the ref...

I can't wait for this team to play 1 good game.

47 points well into the 3rd quarter! A team that beat an offensive record 2 years ago and who wasn't that far off last year.

I posted earlier that if they don’t score 100+ a game they’re going to lose. That’s the metric. Say what you want about Carlisle and his peculiarities, but he has a great offensive mind.

Yeah the current team doesn't really have an identity. With Rick at least they were a top 10 offensive team. I know people here and on reddit are hyping up the defense, but I just don't see it.

This is the same exact problem Carlisle had last year and Kidd won’t fare any better. Porzingis cannot slide in and out of the line up and expect this team to have any consistency on the offensive side of the ball. It’s bad enough that he sucks when he actually plays, but the team has to game plan for his absences as well. It’s disruptive as hell.

Boban's nickname should be "desperate time", because when he shows up, you know the coach just don't know what to do anymore.

The offense has been dismal throughout the 5 games. My understanding is that Kokoskov is the offensive coordinator of the team and supposedly one of the best in the business as his track record with the beautiful O game of Jazz and Slovenian NT team shows (not so much with the Suns, Serbian NT and Fenerbache). What the hell happened?! He has had plenty of time to come up with something because this is going nowhere offensively.

Hate that the commentators blame it on back to back. If mavs shot like normal they would be well ahead. But cant blame energy when u let the same ppl sit on the bench today as yesterday. Stop having powell clog the lane, get the young unused guys in

It looks to me like people are using Powell as a scapegoat. Yeah, he doesn't help spacing and he's bad, but he doesn't make all the Mavs' shooters miss open 3s and it's not his fault if Luka is having his worst shooting stretch since his rookie season.

I don't know what happened in that training camp, but maybe the Mavs needed a coach who isn't all friendly.
