Playing KP as the only big on clutch time is also problematic. Wiz can easily involve KP in pick-n-roll and use a PF to drive pass KP for a dunk. This is also a serious fault of Kidd. No resistent inside the paint. This drives up Wiz confident and makes things difficult for the Mavs. Kidd is just a good Mavs stopper. Brillant...for the opposite teams.

Luka is too heavy at the moment to do that, bad ankle doesn't help either. I wonder, if it's really impossible to somehow explain to him, that he really needs to do something about his weight. They should have put that in the contract.

I wonder if they could put that type of language in a contract. It would be fascinating if he would agree to those terms because he even Luka knows his weight has been an issue. Some of this falls on the organization though. The Mavs trainers and nutritionists should have him on a regimen that at the very least regulates his weight. It fluctuates more than anything. I have never liked the idea of professional athletes playing themselves into game shape.

I think it could happen another way round like Maxi's contract. Just give extra incentives if Luka gets better blocking out rate (Opponent OFF rebound %), lateral quickness (Getting blowed by %) and paint defense (Opponent %).

Yes but THJ fit better and DDR doesn't shoot 3s

Not surprise L, mediocre team lose again those kind of teams.
Every G/F has amazing games against us, no stopper in the back court.
Bullock,DFS, Brown, THJ are bad defender but hey no news.

I find it frustrating to watch the Mavs play at times because as much as I like Luka, he can make some pretty poor decisions at times. When you had the lead there he must have tried to force it in to Powell 4-5 times practically in a row where it was either stolen or Powell couldn't finish. I don't understand at that time when you could have put the game out of reach he was trying to force feed to one of the worst offensive players on the team. Made no sense whatsoever.
Also, from the beginning of the game all through the first quarter he wasn't looking for KP, you could tell that he wanted to score at any cost, he was driving to the basket one time after another and making most of them but KP was on a run these past 7 games so why not get him going right from the start. Luka had what like 10 shots to KP's 2 which he was fouled so he was showing no attempts for almost the whole first quarter. Don't quite get that. There was one sequence in the fourth quarter that KP was underneath the basket all alone, no one near him, Luka looked him off and eventually took a bad three pointer, what in the hell.
It's almost as if he was pissed that KP had been getting lots of press about how he had been playing and was on a 7 game 20 pt per game streak. I swear that you could tell he was trying to avoid him at all cost. To me, he's turning into a Harden, it's about getting his numbers first and foremost. He's not going to be able to attract some talent playing that way. No way anyone would want to play with someone who is that ball dominant.

Luka is better as a playmaker than a James Harden type. Its no coincidence that when he goes the Harden route, everybody else' numbers suffer but he gets his points. The team usually suffers as a result.
There lies the difference with Jokic and Luka. Jokic just tries to make plays and not trying to get Wilt Chamberlain stats. Luka tries to playmake AND still pad his nunbers like Harden. Just spreading yourself too thin doing too much.

You are talking about RS Luka, yes he is a kid and he likes have fun a lot...but in the PO he is more focused and makes less mistakes.
Anyway he is a 23yo kid, i don't worry about his attitude playing with guys who can't win. And he knows that.
About the roster, i'm start to think that Bullock is worse than DFS and this is painful. This FO can't make a moves. Very bad.

Amen to that brother. Luka is a great talent, no doubt about it, but at times he can become a bit of a ball hog which I can't stand. In the 3 games that he missed against the top teams, they were playing good team ball, everyone was a part of the offence, the defence was better overall and they could have easily won those games. Shows what team play with good defence gives you, a chance to win every game, even again the best teams in the league.
As far as Luka being young, he's not 18 anymore and he's been playing pro since what 14 so that doesn't cut it. He's got to grow up, stop crying and complaining about EVERY and I mean EVERY CALL, and just play the damn game the right way.
