The drop off in defense is overblown. Spence couldn't defend a traffic cone and DFS' defense is okay but not All NBA great. People need to chill when referring to DFS' defense. He's not locking down anyone.

DFS was our best defender by far

2029 first means we can trade 2025 and 2027 first IFF this years pick goes to the Knicks. So, we reload next offseaon with two picks available.

Now retain Wood

I'd actually prefer if they send Wood to Toronto with those two picks for SIakam and pieces.

Luka - Kyrie and Siakam gives you an actual shot at a finals appearance.

By Mavs standards, for sure.

DFS has faced Kawhi in two playoff series and has made Andrew Wiggins revive his career last year. He didnt make a dent.

So if it was a choice between Kyrie and DFS locking someone up, I'd take the All NBA talent 10 times out of 10.

Kyrie, on paper, is an upgrade over Brunson but losing Dinwiddie as the 6th guy is a concern. By also losing DFS, Mavs bench got even thinner. Morris is kinda washed by the looks of it.

I hope they still have something planned with Bullock/Bertans/THJ and maybe get more trades done.

Green has been much better defender and player this year than DFS, so i'm not worried about that. Hence why Mavs suddenly started actively shopping DFS.

Yeah, Green should cancel out DFS' production, so that's nothing.

We also don't know if Nico is done dealing, but as it stands:

C- Wood / Powell / Mcgee
PF- Kleber / Bertans / Morris
SF- Doncic / Bullock
SG - THJ / Green
PG- Irving / Hardy / Ntlikina

Hardy might actually get a increase in minutes too.

I think they have some other moves ready... It's not a finish product this roster.

I get what you're saying but my god look at that bench : Hardy-Green-Bullock-Bertans-Powell and that is if no one is injured. That can't work.

By the way, I would put Green over THJ as Irving, Doncic and THJ can't defend

Heh, Wood at center makes so much sense but you know Kidd is going to start Powell instead of spacing the floor for both Kyrie and Doncic. I do believe Green somehow needs to start, defense will be needed. Wood has proven that he can block shots but Green and Maxi will need to defend wings and guards. WIth Wood, Luka, Kyrie offense should never be a problem tbh.

Looking forward to seeing how Kyrie pairs with Luka. Some people seem to think Kyrie can only play on the ball, but his best stretches of play have actually come when he's off ball and can focus solely on scoring instead of playmaking + scoring...

The Mavs still need to make another move. They need a defensive/rebounding big. Can they pry Capela away from the Hawks? Would they trade for Collins (seems redundant next to Wood)? Anyway they can still get Myles Turner even though he signed an extension?

If the Mavs swing for the fences and actually get Pascal Siakam, it would actually balance the roster out.

Luka/Kyrie might be the new Kobe/Shaq and score 80 a game.

Welcome back Mr. B

The price might be too high for Turner. Indiana plans to keep him with Haliburton.

Siakam would be great. It you don’t think the need a big more than they need a SF/PF? Their rebounding and interior defense is still atrocious.
