Still can't believe we got Flagg, he's the real deal.
I can't wait to see him playing with legit NBA players around him, he created a lot of opportunities that his teammates couldn't convert.

Agreed. It's the summer league. A lot of players try to look good to get a contract. Him playing around the NBA level team would get more conversions.

For sure, also rest of team is very bad, it was basically Coop vs everyone. Spurs played extremely physical but he did very well against their pressure (that Carter kid looks like a legit on ball pest)
I'm actually impressed by his ability to draw so many fouls on drives.

Harper and Carter-Bryant looked like vets compared to the rest also, Spurs are going to be a huge trouble...

It will be interesting to see how Flagg does when he isn't the focal point of the opposing defense.
I actually like him getting some time as the creator on O because he'll have options in real games to make plays.

I also hope Lively picks up his offensive game this off season because that is about the only way I could see Nico moving AD.

Especially playing around the likes of Ky, Davis, Klay and PJ - he'll have a LOT more space.

I don’t really see Kidd giving Cooper control of the offense this early in his career, at least not in games that count. I still think Coop is going to be used primarily as a defender his rookie year. They may run the offense through him at times but his main focus will be defense. As long as AD is healthy that is. They may run some P&R with Coop and AD but if it doesn’t have early success I think Kidd will back away from that. The bulk of the offense will likely come from AD and DLo. They also are going to rely heavily on Klay and PJ for their offense too. I also do expect we will see Lively taking a couple 3’s a game.

He just needs to better than PJ at this point in his career and he already clears him.

How excited are all of you about the season?

I should be far more excited about things but I feel like I'm in a fog. If that makes sense.

Maybe it's just trust issues.

Personally I’m super excited about this season. I’m excited to see how Cooper Flagg and Dereck Lively specifically progress.

Yes, it's nice to follow young guns development for sure... Not so nice thinking about we were in the Finals 1 years ago.

And if Harrison will trade a lot of assets for LeBron i think it's really over.
This franchise deserves to disappear for real.

Actually, I want to see how Coop guard Yang, the point center from Portland. I think it's beneficial to learn to guard creative passers like Jokic.

I think players can develop playmaking skills watching Yang's adjustment to the defenders.

Same here with trust.

If Nico squanders all of our trade assets on 30-something former stars, then I'm pretty much done. Like others I want to see Flagg develop and am hoping they make trades that makes sense for his future.

I feel they're gonna ride it out with this crew. AD and Kyrie are both gone in 3 years. In 3 years Flagg will just be 21 years old and very far from his prime. In 4 years time, the new Mavs team will be composed of Flagg and an all new cast. Lively might not even be a guarantee since he has foot problems.

Cooper Flagg is going to be heavily studied from now on Nothing is easy despite being a generational talent. From the SL, Coop should have felt that. Everything he's or hasn't done are being put under the microscope. Especially when Kyrie is out, Flagg could be forced out of comfort zone to take advantage of his inexperience. Luckily, Coop is a really fast learner. It takes a team to win. Everyone should prepare to step up when opportunities present itself.

I give this team 2 years tops.

Unless we win it all in 2027, they should tear it down and build around Flagg after that.
We should not acquire one more player over age 30 between now and then unless they sign for the minimum.

No need to tear it down. Kyrie and AD will retire when their contract ends. They will be like 35 or 36 by that time. By Coop's 3rd or 4th season, Mavs should have an all-new team without this current cast. Coop will only be 21 by then. Most of the players in this league will be replaced by new ones in 5 to 6 years time.

I remember when Dirk had a few disappointing games in 98. Cooper is certainly ahead of the curve than Dirk was at that time. But since he's so young (still supposed to be a college freshman today), i can see some patience needed for Coop, and certainly a way different player than Luka. By no means a direct Luka replacement.
