Whether you like it or not, Barnes is now a Maverick. So let's show him some love. Welcome to Dallas Harrison!

^^ They cant. GSW nailed the salary cap shut with that KD signing. Curry, Klay, KD and Green. 4 max contracts by next summer.

I'm getting so fed up with the NBA.

73 win team adds freaking Durant... not long ago the consensus #2 player in the league.

And here we are... our Dallas Mavericks... are going to be paying Harrison Barnes $94 million dollars. This front office just doesn't stop embarrassing themselves, but I guess the Sixers would have maxed him as well...

Depressing. Signing what is a mediocre player as if he is a star. No discounts at all. No value. Let's announce we're giving a mediocre guy 90 million, before actually knowing what will happen with their team and getting a better deal out of it.

I sure hope Cuban can sell the team to Dirk this year. Because it looks like that a sorry-a$$ excuse for the front office.

At this point, Dirk can easily sign the vet min and play center for GSW. that team is stacked!

There's a part of me that hopes Dirk would sign with GSW now.

Does it really matter who we sign and at what price now?
We should have waited and not signed DWill until after Durant signed. There is absolutely no reason in the world for us to sign a player over 30 at this point....in fact we should be dumping as many of them that we can.

Yeah....My thoughts exactly.

I like Barnes, but he's not worth that much money, period. Maybe the front office didn't see him play during the Finals?

Dirk is one of my favorite all-time players--but he deserves better. This build around Dirk strategy can't continue anymore.

It's over for us, point blank. This ships needs to be blown up. We need some draft picks. Rebuilding has to happen.

I think this franchise is at a crossroads....if the FO doesn't get it's stuff together, we could see long period of losing, plain and simple.

You realize the Mavs won a championship during that time, right? I'm not too worried about the NBA. Maybe about the Mavericks, though.

Gentlemen, that is not a tanking lineup. Damn it. Pray that Westbrook and Cuban are friends and that he'd consider a short drive from Oklahoma to Dallas next summer.

You didn't catch the Mavs/Thunder series this year huh?

Yeah but now we are 5 years away from being 5 years away.. Cuban and Nellie can't even command a tank properly, so what's the point of watching? The likely scenario of having a 40 win team for 10 straight years sucks

They saw him play the entire year and they saw him play the past 3 years. The Finals are not the only sample of his game. He's been a pretty good player his entire career. Now I agree that he's not a max player but that's the market for a young player with his skill set. That's why they're signing him.

^ A model for rebuilding with plain picks is Minnesota. Their last decent playoff game was when they had Olowakandi and they're still not winning now. But getting there. So I'd say Cuban is in for 15 years of suckage after Dirk hangs it up.

You're assuming they want to tank. To me it appears they are acquiring assets. Remember the cap is going up again the next two years so Barnes contract won't be a max next year, just like Matthew's contract isn't a max contract anymore. If Barnes plays well (which he should) and Matthews comes back more like himself (as he should after another year back from that injury) they have two really good defenders. Plus they should have a good draft pick (likely lotto pick). That's not even including Powell and Anderson who would also be valuable trade chips (I prefer they keep both though).

Mavs have emerged as a strong target destination for Andrew Bogut.

I've also seen Harrison play the past three years. I watched him throughout the playoffs (not just the Finals).

He's not worth the money. He's been a DECENT player throughout his career.

Shame what the league is coming to paying mediocrity.

Williams/Barea
Matthews/Felton/Harris
Barnes/Anderson
Nowitzki/Powell/Lee
Bogut/Mejri/Hammons

Hey, that's an actual NBA team.

I obviously hope Barnes does well with the Mavs.

But, maybe this would be an interesting read, especially for the fans who disliked Parsons so much. I read this the last week. A couple of threads on Barnes from Warrior fans, before they really thought they'd get Durant:

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1459346
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1459330

When I read that, I felt it was ironic, considering how the majority of Mav fans seemed to dislike Parsons.

I am not against signing Barnes, I am just frustrated that the Mavs just never seem to sign deals where you feel the risk isn't all on the team.

Barnes will have all the opportunity to shine now, both on offense and defense. Curious to see what he does... and hope he gets some burn with team USA.

Suns fan here. Disregard "helping" the Warriors create space for Durant, Bogut is still a quality big man and it was a position Dallas needed to fill and you get him for practically nothing. I really like the Barnes signing and I'm excited to see what he can do. Two great moves for the Mavs.
