Carlisle love him, he will have PT and will be efficient. Plus, I love him too and I was pissed off that Dallas trade him for... Erm... Croshere
Plus he's rather athletic and versatile. Would be great for us, I think.

Let's just trade for another bad salary. It's time to move on from the past or would you like for us to bring NVE back?

Indiana does have a couple players that interest me.

NVE ? Nick Van Exel ?

No I don't wanna live in the past... I know it's time for the Mavs to move, that's why I just keep trying to find a good fit for our team.
We need a SG and a C. And on the other hand we want to get rid of Terry and Stack. Daniels was just an option...

But can you tell who do you want from Indiana if it isn't Marquis ?

I just hope he can find away to be more open minded and stay away from mico-managing this team like Avery did. It's time to let these guys run and be free!

I like the following:

Jeff Foster
Mike Dunleavy - Pass on his contract
Kareem Rush - FA

Marquis Daniels

Marquis Contract is for another two years. Stackhouse contract is for two years with a 2 million dollar buyout on the last year. His contract would not hurt us unless we would be under the cap, and that will not happen for another three years when everyone but Jet's contract is up. It is an option that I bet they talk about.

Is their any chance the Bucks would do a Howard and Stackhouse contract for Redd? It would save the Bucks a ton of money, they would get a slightly younger player in Howard, and more salary cap flexibility. Redd's contract is up the same year as Dirk's.

Dallas Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: -14.7 ppg, -7.1 rpg, and -1.4 apg.

Jermaine O'Neal
6-11 PF from Eau Claire (HS)
13.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.2 apg in 28.7 minutes

Marquis Daniels
6-5 SG from Auburn
8.2 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.9 apg in 20.9 minutes

Jamaal Tinsley
6-1 PG from Iowa State
11.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 8.4 apg in 33.2 minutes

Outgoing Players
Erick Dampier
6-11 C from Mississippi State
6.1 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 0.9 apg in 24.4 minutes

Josh Howard
6-5 SG / SF from Wake Forrest
19.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.1 apg in 35.9 minutes

Jerry Stackhouse
6-6 SG / SF from North Carolina
10.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 2.5 apg in 24.4 minutes

Devean George (Artificial expiring)
6-8 SF from Augsburg-MN
5.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 12.5 minutes

#51 pick, Shan Foster 6-6 190 SG Vanderbilt Sr.

Right to Renaldo Seibutis

Dallas roster:
C - Jemaine O'Neal - *Desagana Diop / *Kurt Thomas
PF - Dirk Nowitzki - Brandon Bass / *Malik Allen
SF - *Ron Artest - *Antoine Wright / Rayshawn Terry
SG - Jason Terry - *Bonzi Wells / Marquis Daniels
PG - Jason Kidd - Jamaal Tinsley / *Jose Juan Barea

* Sign Ron Artest to MLE. Sign Desagana Diop, Kurt Thomas, Malik Allen, Antoine Wright, Bonzi Wells, Jose Juan Barea with vet min.

Dallas roll the dice to full win now mentality. JO is a good fit. Rick Carlisie should ask Ron Artest to opt out and sign with the Mavs. Mark Cuban should lure Desagana Diop to sign one year contract with Bird's right at the end of the contract. If not sign Nick Fazekas instead. Donnie Nelson should lure Kurt Thomas for homecoming discount.

It's nothing more than dream, of course. Ron Artest and Bonzi Wells combo really embarrass the Spurs a couple of year's ago.

Indiana roster:
C - Erick Dampier - Jeff Foster / #Joey Dorsey
PF - Danny Granger - Troy Murphy / Ike Diogu
SF - Mike Dunleavy - Shawne Williams / Devean George
SG - Josh Howard - Jerry Stackhouse / #Shan Foster
PG - #Russell Westbrook - Travis Diener / Renaldo Seibutis

*qualifying offer
#11 Russell Westbrook 6-4 187 PG UCLA So.
#39 Joey Dorsey 6-9 260 PF/C Memphis Sr.
#51 Shan Foster 6-6 190 SG Vanderbilt Sr.

Indiana gets depth and dump some salaries. The versatile lineup features uptempo game lineup (Dorsey-Granger-Williams, Howard, Westbrook) and half court lineup (Dampier-Murphy-Dunleavy-Howard-Westbrook).

^^ that trade is kinda appealing... indy was successful with JO and artest before but kinda lost fuel during the latter parts of the playoffs... put dirk in the middle of two enforcers, add a kidd-terry backcourt and you've got yourself a contender....

i thought of something like this....

dallas gives- josh, dampier, stack, JET
dallas gets- JO, jackson, tinsley

indy gives- JO, tinsley, foster, diogu
indy gets- josh, stack, dampier, JET

golden state gives- jackson
golden state gets- foster, diogu

*sign artest with full MLE and kwame brown with the LLE or vet min....

C- oneal / brown
PF- dirk / bass
SF- artest / george
SG- jackson / jones
PG- kidd / tinsley

with guys like jackson, artest, and JO on board, i doubt would have the balls to push dallas around...

indy might do the deal if we take on tinsley's contract... though its a year longer than stack's deal, it still expires on the right time...

golden state might welcome a deal that makes them bigger... this deal just added reinforcements for beidreins... a young prospect in diogu and an expiring in foster....

dallas now has a solid PG rotation with kidd and tinsley... tinsley wouldnt have a hard time adjusting to carisle's system... jackson and artest play kidd's wingmen... and if JO's knees are fully healed, him and dirk would be the frontcourt to beat....

Your two trades demonstrate we have the pieces to put together an outstanding "win now" team. Let's hope the FO sees that and that Bird and Mullin are willing to dismantle their respective teams.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Why exactly would Carlisle wish to regain the headache known as Artest who almost singularly destroyed a very talented Pacer team? Are folks claiming that Carlisle is a masochist?

True, one wonders if the money and fame are worth the pain. I guess that is what separates those coaching in the NBA from others equally talented but more sane (oos, that doesn't work for major college coaches either, I fear) basketball coaches.

Great Q&A here with Carlisle. It's refreshing to hear a lot of this stuff.

http://www.nba.com/mavericks/news/Carli ... 51208.html
How do you view this situation differently from your previous stops in Detroit and Indiana?

I think this team needs to be more of an up-tempo-type team. We have a great leader in Jason Kidd that I have to give the ball to and let him run the team, which I

He says the right things, i like that. I also like that he wants to work with Josh and help him get back to his Allstar form.

Now how are we supposed to upgrade our swing positions just with expirings if the C position uses our whole MLE. Donnie and Cuban really have a big challenge here.

I guess Cuban needs to buy some late first rounders and fill this roster with young prospects in hope one or two show some promise.

^^ judging from the interview, i think we're not gonna do a lot of moves in the offseason... i think management will be sticking with josh probably before the trade deadline... im just curious to see what a full training camp can do to this team... if we still play like we did in the new orleans series, then something is definitely wrong...

if we dont trade josh this summer, i guess that's fine as we wouldnt be getting equal value for josh right now... BUT if he doesnt get his game back on track by the february trade deadline, then i guess cuban might just give up on him and ship him out...

JES, is that possible? Can an owner or GM purchase picks from other teams? If so, then this is the year to do it. Will the purchase of the picks go against the cap or only what the players sign for?

IIRC you can put in any trade up to 3 mill in cash. So in a trade for a pick you can pay that pick with 3 mill. The pick per se doesnt count vs the cap but the contract of the signed player will.

I read on the GB that some players mainly in Europe tried to lower their stock to fall to the second round so they can sign bigger contracts. So there could be some gems at the early second round.

Targets for teams looking to sell their pick are either teams with full rosters or too many prospects on a team. So i can see Atlanta, Seattle, Chicago and Nj getting rid of their second. Seattle could also sell their PHX first this year they got for taking on Kurt Thomas. I dont think SAN will sell their pick, at least not to a rival.
