For BOS, they will want to somehow route Klay or someone like KP/Hauser to another team. They really need to cut money.
For DAL, I think it's bailing BOS out of one of the worst contracts in the league. BOS needs to send more. Also I believe this hardcaps DAL which becomes another problem.

Domantas Sabonis probably hashed things out in a meeting he had with Doug Christie and the Kings front office.
If they're ever interested in a trade that involves Sabonis for AD we need to consider. We can give him closer to 18 field goal attempts per game. He averages 13 per game for the Kings.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2025 Trade thread -- Roster and Cap
I'd trade AD with any of these guys coming back as the primary piece
Trey Murphy III
Desmond Bane
Devin Booker
Jaylen Brown
Jalen Johnson
Please fire Nico & trade AD. Fire Kidd while we're at it.

High chance CP3 lands in Dallas. If it's for the minimum, then it also means everybody's being brought back. At least up until the TDL.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2025 Trade thread -- Roster and Cap
DAL receives: R. Sheppard + J. Green + Jabari Smith + Mavs 29 FRP
HOU receives: AD + Hardy
DAL gets a young core and our pick back. Fire Nico and build around Flagg.
HOU gets out of Green's contract and builds a championship level team. They would still have the assets, contracts and picks to make another big swing if needed.

Sabonis is not a real superstar, i stay with street clothes at this point.
My plan is a moderate rebuild, we can't go in full rebuild mode because we don't have our future picks so trade street clothes/Klay and not resign Irving.
Create a young and talented core around Flagg/D-Liv/Christie/Naji/PJ and new guys. Then see what happens.

I'm fine also with #10 instead of Sheppard.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

I think folks are underestimating just how bad Jalen Green is. He's terrible and on a huge deal. If he could be flipped, sure, but no one is knocking on that door. I don't know what it is about the combination of last name Green and first initial J, but it seems to make said player garbage.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2025 Trade thread -- Roster and Cap
Apparently Mavs are a heavy favorite to sign Chris Paul.
This will be some weird ass team. 2 very injury prone and aging stars with a grandpa CP3 leading the way. Mixed with prime time role players and an 18yo rookie, potential superstar in the making.
This is either going to be a complete **** show or Nico will somehow luck into a great season. I can't see it any other way.

CP3 ring chasing with the Mavs is not something I had on my bingo card. Lebron might as well opt out and sign for the minimum to rep the old guard.

Random thought
Dallas should fire Nico Harrison and hire Jeff Van Gundy as the team exec/GM. Let Van Gundy decide if Kidd is his coach and allow him to fire him and bring his own guy in.

Apparently Shams was reporting Lebron will opt in, which means Lakers are more or less screwed with his contract lol...

Lebron is just stat padding at this point of his career. He should not be earning $52M at 40 years old. But it seems like Klutch has a firm grip with with the Lakers FO.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2025 Trade thread -- Roster and Cap
If I were to pick a trade target, it would be Herb Jones. So hopefully those talks with NOLA get restarted in the offseason, even if it costs Gafford + someone else. He will be your primary defender at the POA. Seeing how Brunson gets disrupted by Nembhard or Nesmith, it can be the difference between winning or losing. Herb will be a weapon come playoff time.
Put Herb on the opposing team's best scorer, Flagg gets the 2nd best player, AD takes the 3rd and Lively takes care of the big. You know how hard it will be to score on that group? AD on your 3rd best player? LOL

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2025 Trade thread -- Roster and Cap
Austin Reaves is reported to decline his PO and will test free agency. He's looking at a new contract with $30M per year. This is on par with the Desmond Banes of the league. Christian Braun of Denver is also looking at the same type of deal.
I think this opens up trade possibilities with LA now that they can't keep him. $70M for Luka, $52M for Lebron and $30M for Reaves limits all your next roster moves. That's 75% of the cap for just 3 players. They need to move Reaves. I think I'll take him for Gaff and call it a day. AR produces better numbers than CP3 or Lonzo IMO. Just get AR for Gaff and bring PJ back. No need to trade him.

Giannis is looking at LA and NY. Reaves is said to test market and asks for 30M per year. Lebron will opt in. I think the Mavs could rent Lebron and move some contracts as a third team.
