They're different. Powell moves well on defense and rarely gets lost. But he's absolutely useless at rim protection.
Wood gets lost easily but is a legit rim protector.
Both hustle on D.

I prefer Powell against a post scorer like Sabonis but I think it really hurts us having nobody challenging people at the rim with some shotblocking ability. Powell (LAC) and Davis and Huerter repeatedly made use of that in the last games whenever Powell was in.

Powell has much better BB IQ than Wood, but he's very limited due to lack of height and length.

Powell got 2-3 times evert game that i justwant to put my hands around his neck and strangle him. His bbiq is really bad, he doesnt understand what the playmakers gonna do and looks in the wrong direction, and his hand are **** too. Srveral times its just like he got soap in his hands.

It might not be worse then taking a bad shot, but at nba level u shoukd ve able to do basics, soecually if h are not on a min contract

Whiteside is still available. Could Hassan guard Jokic and Ayton?

One year's ago, Whiteside averages 16 PPG, 15 RPG, 3 BPG per 36 mins. At 32, Hassan may still play.

Sure, if they play each other in NBA 2K.

Tbh he probably can't guard a telephone pole but some spot minutes to just provide some rim protection should be interesting but I doubt this FO cares for it.

Powell simply cannot stop Sabonis 1 on 1

If you can watch this is why I wanted Thybulle. Yes Grant is out, but I flipped over to see end of first half and dude is all over on Defense

Whiteside is a good option and I would ask him to prove he can play still and if he can give him a deal next season. You have to use McGee and Wood though and I would bench Powell after this **** show game he was -15 on plus minus and only had one rebound all game. We had 2 legit bigs in Tyson and Haywood to win in 2011 plus Dirk at the 4 and that made a real difference. Kidd saw that up close and personal as well. He needs to use Wood as a stretch 4 and play McGee at the 5 so we can match up against a team with a top tier center. This game had easy win all over it if Kidd just plays things smarter with the center line up

I bet we do not add any more size before the playoffs. Cuban can see the writing on the wall and I bet Kidd is a short timer if he fails to make smarter decisions. We got Luka some help now learn how to use it Kidd.

If it's a first round exit, it's pretty much a gaurantee that Kidd gets the boot.

Obviously not lol. But I can see why Kidd choses him to body him up for most of the games...

It would be frustrating to have to cheer on Whiteside but thinking that Aldridge is working with the Mavs, it wouldn't be too bad I guess..in this scenario buying and acquiring Noel would be a dream..I wonder if the Mavs front office knows who Stanley Johnson is ? a Johnson/Noel combo would be very solid in my opinion

Aldridge isn't an NBA player anymore.

As Harp would say. :D

Mavs have couple of those already on the team, why not hire another one at this juncture of the season

Saw it from a mile away. GJ Kidd, giving McGee and Powell more time than Wood. Lately looks like even Pinson is ahead of Wood.

Tim Cato in his most recent article: Claims Christian Wood isnt happy coming off the bench with his minutes rotation, will depart from the team this summer almost certainly.

I thought he was all about doing whatever it takes to win . I think he should be in that 25-28 min range and Kidd is shorting him some but the dude just wants his money while not caring who it comes from.

I don't think that's true. He repeatedly said he wants to stay and was afraid of being traded. He was even in constant contact with Kidd and Nico.

Draymond suggested Wood should get around 15M and that was basically cheap DFS' money. I reckon Mavs had no intentions of resigning him, instead just used him as a trade bait.

Next years core of Luka/Green/THJ is becoming more and more a reality.

You think so? I wouldn’t be opposed to Kidd being let go but who could they get to replace him?
