A JOKE of a franchise.

And it started when Mark Cuban thought he was the smartest guy in the room.

Cuban thought he was smarter than his basketball lifer GM and brought in Vegas Bob

Pushed out basketball lifer GM who if it wasn't for Donnie Nelson the entire history of this franchise would be garbage and disappointment.

Donnie, who actually knew what he was doing, got Dirk here. Got Luka here. Donnie + Dirk made the Mavs great. Cuban rode Dirk's coattails and cheered until hubris, until in his hubris Mark thought he was smarter than everyone else.

After pushing out the son of an NBA player AND HC, basketball lifer, basketball junkie legit GM who with Dirk MADE the franchise he.... wait for it....

Hired a shoe saleseman LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

You can't make this stuff up. This should be made into a movie.

Nico Harrison, in the corporate world for the past 19 years before Cuban hired him LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

in his own hubris, ignorance, and disdain for a "certain" kind of player (I'll leave it at that)...

traded away a unicorn (Kristaps Porzingis) for a bag of role players LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

And after thinking about this some more it only gets worse...

Think about all that was built here under Donnie with the draft night acquisition to get Luka here (pure genius Donnie and LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL        at the DUMB Atlanta Hawks

And then all that was built here, for years with the previous ownership. Think about this.... Mark Cuban is still part owner of the team. It's inconceivable that this move would be made when MARK IS STILL PART OWNER OF THE TEAM. Talk about your scheming, conniving, back stabbing, doing things in the dark behind people's back.

Mercenary teams almost always fail in the NBA. Heat with Lebron still had the home grown Wade. Celtics still had the home grown Pierce. Some of you cheering for a Nico mercenary team         that's a franchise without a heart. That's a franchise without a soul. That is a FAILED franchise, who can't draft and develop a superstar.

In the meantime...

Once every 5 games Luka does something NO ONE IN THE HISTORY OF THE NBA HAS DONE. Mavs, even if the team was decimated by injury still had this must see TV legendary superstar who, on any given night, does something NOONE or very few have EVER done in the HISTORY of the league.

I repeat... IN THE MEANTIME...

Once every 5 games or so Luka does something NO ONE IN THE HISTORY OF THE NBA HAS DONE (or a select few)

The Dallas Mavericks. PUKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CLOWN CAR. JOKE of a franchise.

Unfortunately Nico Harrison is not dumb, he built a Finals roster last year.

Luka trade is something else.

You and I are on the same side.

Saying Nico Harrison built a finals roster doesn't explain how the Mavs got there. It's not even true.

NIco was not part of the organization when the Mavs acquired Luka. Nico never would have made the draft night trade to acquire Luka. Nico wants people around him that make Nico comfortable. Luka doesn't fit Nico's vision for NIco's culture. Luka doesn't fit his vision for how he wants a team constructed.

Derrick LIvely was not part of NIco's plan. Mavs were so bad after breaking up a WCF team they ended up in the lottery. It was a disaster the first season after the Kyrie trade.

NIco Harrison/Patrick Dumont had a combined total of 3 and a half years experience in the NBA at the time of the trade. They are both full of hubris. They are both tone deaf. They both lack experience.

For those who want to claim tin foil hat, the burden of proof is on you.

I've listened to the entire video explaining the idea of the Adelson's wanting to destroy the franchise with the end result being more business in Texas (gambling). That theory is dumber even than the Luka trade.

The only tin foil hat theory with any plausibility is the idea the league ordered this. There are plenty of problems with that theory too though.

Yes i don't trust those cospirations too, i think Harrison doesn't like Luka and wanted to trade him (this is the stupid part) so he called his buddy from 20y and gifted Doncic to him.

But don't forget that they are businessmen so we'll see in the future what is the second part of the deal.

The statements about "body issues and conditioning" are just lies and you can see it when the counterpart of the trade was a player known as street clothes and day-to-Davis.

Nico cost Luka $115M. He does not like him on a personal level.

Anytime a person causes someone to lose money at that range, it's personal.

He's your typical CEO or top management. He is loyal to the one signing his checks. In this case that is Miriam Adelson.

If Adelson asks him to jump, he asks how high. That's how it is with corporate suck ups.

I can understand that Adelsons or Dumont asked him to trade Luka but he called his buddy and no one else so he has his faults.

That's the point.

The only reason for Adelson to trade Luka is they didn't want to pay him supermax. Problem is that in that case you don't trade for AD, who will be getting 60+ in next 3 years and will be extended soon for even bigger salary. This is Nico's trade not Adelson trade.

That is true. It's the return for that package that is in question.

But it's been played over and over now. Some people are ready to move on.

Also just to add, I think Nico asked for some favors in exchange of that. If he loses his Mavs job, he'll likely re-surface in LA.

I don't know who pulled the trigger but say "Nico is dumb" is wrong for me... I ser that move as a businessmen deal but obviously Nico problems with Luka are real.

I enjoyed reading that.
You're completely correct.

Mavs have never been able to attract star talent, so they unload their generational talent, and going forward this franchise ia doomed. Nico won't attract elite talents going forward so there's no hope for me. I experienced the dark times with this franchise before Cuban purchased the team and now things are even darker.

Whatever the truth is, I doubt the Adelson/Dumont family wanted to pay the supermax to Luka, and now the Lakers have him at a discount. His next contract willl be a discount since teams won't have to pay the supermax.

Yeah it's more of Adelson only willing to sign Luka back to below the supermax. Which if you offered would probably piss Luka and his agent off. Then you start this whole movement of Luka not wanting to sign back then you have to work out sign and trades at that point.

Bottomline is the new owners talk a big game about checks they cant cash. But the caveat is Davis and Kyrie would also command max contracts on their own. So I dont know the rationale behind that. A mix of cheapness, pettiness, hate and Nico's ego, if I were to guess.

It reminds me of how the Magic lost Shaq. The Magic refused to pay him more than the Lakers so he walked.

Some Laker fans turning on Luka. Triple double in a loss isn't getting recieved as well in LA than in Dallas. Lights are brighter in LA and fans are not as forgiving.

He was doing the same crap here, you have game where he can fill the box score, but with bad body language, letting the refs get into his head, and losing to bad teams, it's part of the package, most of the non stans criticized him for it here also...
I am disappointed he let this happen this early, I expected him to have a chip on his shoulder and channel his frustration better, but old habits never die I guess.
Once they see him in a PO setting with normal roster they'll forget these games quickly, he is a big game player, but in small game, he can be a drag...

Agreed. Old habits. He's just on the spotlight more now. Wearing a Laker uniform and all, you get the fans behind you when you're winning. But when you lose in LA, oh boy. Them Luka stans will have their hands full defending Luka left and right.

Yeah, you could see it in the national media, what Windhorst did to him after game 3 of the finals was unprecedented, he hated him on personal level, I think it's because the demeanor Luka givea.
To his credit, he always rebounds, game 4 against the Thunder was terrible game by him and he lost the Mavs the game by letting Dort and the refs into his head, he went to OKC in game 5 and stepped on their throats, same after game 3 in the finals, he shined in game 4, we'll see how he rebounds.
