Raptors just fired Nurse. We should be quick on that phonecall, but unfortunately “we love Kidd”

I swear if Mavs don't do anything other than fire Kidd and hire Nurse, i would consider it as a successful off season
I am THAT desperate for a coaching change.

Come one now, no one died, he's just watching, it's the players who win or lose, and upper management decision, Twitter isn't the coach.

I would almost guarantee that someone had a stroke from watching this year. The "Roller Coaster Mavs" were almost already too much for us to handle. People with bad heart, i don't know how they survived

God is trying to bless our beloved Mavs by having Nick Nurse available officially.
If Mavs don't seize this opportunity, this is another big fail.

Re: Trade Discussion 22/23
THJ and Powell and Kidd have to go for this team to have any chance next season. Surround Luka, Kyrie and Hardy with defensive players and we are instantly a top 5 team. They did the difficult part but seem to be too stubborn to do the easy part.arkuo wrote:Teffer10 wrote:arkuo wrote:A motivated Kyrie is and will be better than Brunson. So that's a no brainer.
What the Mavs lacked this season was DEFENSE and REBOUNDING. Brunson couldn't have helped in any of those categories even if he tried.
Kyrie + Luka isnt the problem. The pieces around them are. Just draft or trade the pick for a PF. Then do another trade for a center. Mavs should be hanging around the middle of the playoffs (3 to 6) if they change those two positions.
Yep....still scratching my head wondering why they didnt address a gaping hole in our frontcourt since last season.
Everybody in the world, with the exception of Kidd knew McGee was a knuckleheaded 3rd string center and that was their answer to our woes?
Then they make the miraculous trade for Kyrie giving up our best defender and made no attempt whatsoever to replace him.
And they wonder why the whole Kyrie/Luka thing didnt work.
Good grief!!!!
Yeah. Agreed. I think the FO and Kidd put too much faith on the Bullock + Powell frontcourt tandem which is frankly stupid. Those two and bench players at best. I remember Kyrie talking about building the team for the long term so I hope he knows something we dont. And hopefully they can get back to competing as early as next season.
Its really those two that come up with empty possessions when you analyze it. Kyrie + Luka are fine and should be unguardable when they click. It's Bullock + Powell and to a certain extent THJ that come up with weak production numbers from their position. You replace them with players that are ready to produce at a high level then you can compete in the playoffs.

Oof... Looney with 20 rebs (9ORB) and 9 assists. Damn, imagine having a center that can do that.

Looney playing for Mavs & Kidd will produce similar numbers as McGee.

I'm just saying it would be nice to have a center that can produce those numbers if he wants to.

I think their thinking is that if you get rid of Kidd you’ll lose Kyrie.

You guys think Kyrie has way more leverage than what he really does.

I don't think Kidd is as important to the players as we think he is too. Heck in the players poll of "what coach would you like to play for," the guy had zero votes. Almost every other coach got at least one.

It’s pretty well documented that Kidd is very well liked by the players around the league.

That wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing on both accounts.
I still think Kyrie loses interest in basketball 5 mins after he signs the contract.
Right now he has to play nice and say the right things because he is a super smart dude and will play Cuban like a fiddle.
Cuban has no leverage on the situation and Kyrie can take full advantage.
Another reason I didn't want that trade to happen because now Cuban is completely handcuffed and must fully commit to re-signing Kyrie. Very few other options and can only hope for a S&T but my guess we are stuck with him.
Get the right support group and it might have a chance to work.

One way or the other we need to add a center and not some 2nd rate loser like we got last season. The PF position might be a lot better if we get 2 bigs that can hang as well.

That has to start with the FO and Kidd taking the center position seriously.
It is obvious their priorities have been low to nonexistent on the center, and even PF positions since the days of Tyson/Dirk. They simply have to go all in on those positions now with SF being close behind.
Hopefully that was their #1 reason for tanking, to obtain another draft pick to have a trade piece to address one or both of those positions. My biggest concern is that in order to acquire any significant difference-maker, Hardy will need to be included.

Re: Trade Discussion 22/23
If Hardy is traded we should get to keep our pick he is almost producing as an all star level talent as a rookie imagine what he would do if Kidd had played him all year long and then he has the ability to be a player that a team would agree to give us multiple first round picks for as early as next year so trade him as his value is more like at the TDL when you show the world he is a star first or at the TDL you send out Kyrie to LA in exchange for Rui, Vanderbilt and Mo. Doubt that would be the deal but maybe you would want to throw 'Green in that deal as well and we keep Hardy.
