I dont think they package is as far off as you make it seem. Phoenix has zero leverage in any trade involving Ayton, as its known leaguewide that they essentially have to trade him. I do think theyre going to want Kleber in any deal for him though involving the Mavs, so im thinking Hardaway and Kleber for Ayton should be the offer. If they wanted to include Josh Green for Torrey Craig, i would be fine with that too

Still be hesitant to include Kleber unless they take McGee too. So THJ/Kleber/McGee, they get 3 rotational pieces. Dallas gets AYton, and maybe Craig if he's not a FA

I'd do THJ/kleber/Mcgee in a split second...

My worry would still be Kyrie and Ayton on the same team. They only care about the money, couldnt care less about winning basketball.

Kyrie is injury prune and PR nightmare, but he is well liked by his teammates.
Mavs can offer Suns mutiple options
THJ/Kleber
Bertans (S&W) and Kleber (opens full MLE and BAE for them)
THJ, Kleber and Bullock and Mcgee if they din't care about cap
Mavs should do any of these

I am guessing they were offering the pile of garbage that ended out in Washington.

Yeah but re-signing Kyrie means win now. No rookie at 10 will be good enough. We know whatever Stein says is like 99% true, he's literally Cuban's mouthpiece. He started the campaign about Capela+15th for Mavs 10th, etc.... So until he starts reporting something else, i'm still believing Mavs are trying hard to get Capela at this point.

As they should. Mavs have the leverage in any deal for 10. Capela and 15 for 10 and Bertans or Collins and 15 for Bertans and Javale should be the only 2 options if Atlanta truly wants Lively. If the Mavs have to throw in a future 2nd or something to get it done, thats about as much extra as id be willing to part with.

Its not about putting a rookie next to Kyrie + Luka as much as it is about the fact that its a highly coveted prospect that any interested team has to acquire the 10th pick in order to get. If they trade higher than 10 for Lively, then it means that Hendricks or Black fall to Dallas and im sure Cuban and Nico would be more than happy with that scenario playing out as well... But if Dallas ends up staying and picking Lively, then at least we finally have an exciting C for the first time in a decade. Not the worst outcome either way.

The only bad draft outcome is if they package the pick with Hardaway for a vet that doesnt move the needle like Smart or Bojan.

It’s really all going to come down to who is there at 10. I e read that OKC is extremely interested in drafting Taylor Hendricks. If he’s still on the board at 10 I could see the Mavs trading down to 12.

Would OKC do #10+THJ for #12+Lu Dort?

Bruh if we got Lu Dort, my god the happiness

I can’t wait to Thursday. So many teams want to move up in the draft we have a ton of leverage. Can’t wait to see what Nico does with it. Big opportunity for him to flex what he’s capable of. I just know we are gonna tear him apart if the outcome is underwhelming.

My fear is his habit of overpaying. I worry about him packaging 10 and Green or another 1st, but not getting enough back to make us a contender

It’s times like this where as a fan we wish we knew every offer that legit comes in. It’s true I haven’t liked any of his moves but this time teams actually want something we have.

I'm not sure i would want anything from Rockets.

I think a lot of the teams speaking to the Mavs are about to start spilling the offers. We’ll get a general idea of what’s being offered. Personally I believe it’s best to use this pick to get established players. No rookie available at 10 is moving the needle the way WE need it moved.

Could very likely still get Lively at 12 too.

I really think if Hendricks and/or Lively are on the board at 10 the Mavs are going to get some serious offers. Offers we haven’t even considered here.
